So nice when a feel-good Maine story becomes part of the national discussion.

I remember learning about this in high school. The legislative branch writes the laws, the judicial branch interprets the laws, and the executive branch figures out which laws they feel like enforcing and which to ignore.

Breaking News: President Trump signed an executive order to exempt Russia from new sanctions legislation that Congress passed last month. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/16/u...

This afternoon's orbital data suggests - subject to confirmation - that Russia's Kosmos-2612 has carried out a rendezvous with the US ICEYE X36 radar sat, within a few km. To my knowledge this is the first LEO rendezvous of two active sats where the owner of one of the sats did not give approval.

Impeach this traitor. Impeach, indict, convict.

The Mouthy Renegade Writer@mouthyrenegade.bsky.social

He absolutely should be impeached and tried for treason, along with his many enablers in the White House and Congress. It's unfuckingreal that it hasn't happened yet. 🤬

Collins literally demonstrating how out of touch she is on the night our Maine town unanimously voted for a datacenter moratorium.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

A protester yelling that data centers are "poisoning our waters!" interrupts the Collins-Jackson debate, prompting Collins to say "this is obviously one of Troy's supporters" "Oh, shut up," Jackson replies

Q: Can you name a time when you voted against Trump and it changed the outcome? SUSAN COLLINS: At one point, I had organized people to vote against Sec. Hegseth. At the very last minute one of our Republicans changed his mind. Otherwise he would've been defeated. Q: So it didn't change the outcome

read that sentence. it is a description of political persecution. anyone giving this the time of day as a serious legal case is a fool.

10/14 FACT CHECK: Did Senator Collins introduce a bill to codify Roe v Wade, like she said in Thursday's debate? Yes, but it was savaged by abortion care advocates who wanted to see a law relevant to abortion access in 2022, not relevant to 1973. #maine #MEpolitics

Even if we take your word that it is now friendly and inclusive, your engagement directly supports Musk’s mission to dismantle U.S. social services and discrimination protection, his donations to corrupt politicians, and his protection of child predators.

#MEpolitics: I live in Bangor—walking distance from downtown—and Bobby Charles is not only talking out of his arse, he’s employing the MAGA tactic of trying to dehumanise and demonise unhoused people, many of whom are unhoused because of the failed, inhumane policies of people like Bobby Charles.

@gruber.foo I was in the audience when Troy Jackson made this speech and was quite moved by it. I think we could use his compassion and empathy in the senate. Musk is pouring money into his opposition. Choosing to use X is a political statement with political repercussions.

Maine Newsroom@mainenewsroom.com

7/26 Senate candidate Troy Jackson: The economy isn’t just taking Mainers’ money, but “pieces of our lives away from us” #maine #MEpolitics

I know this will likely not sway you, but you are an influential person in my eyes whose writing and work I have enjoyed. If I had any chance to influence you to change your mind, I had to try. Please refrain from using X.

I’ve seen a couple of political ads from Susan Collins which can be summarized as: I am solving the problem of rural Maine birthing center closures by making it easier to give birth in the emergency room.

Troy Jackson: "The gentleman's name was Johan Sebastian Guerrero. He had a 3 year old daughter. The only mistake he made that morning was going to work. Because Sen. Collins is not willing to stand up to Donald Trump, he was murdered in the streets of Biddeford for doing nothing wrong."

#MEpolitics: Collins wouldn’t even be renouncing these unconstitutional rescissions right now if not for her desperate need to distract from her own corruption scandal, reassert herself as an “independent” chair of the Senate Appropriations Comm, obfuscate her vote to confirm Vought as OMB Director.

Bobby Kogan@bbkogan.bsky.social

I think something to consider here is that Collins voted to confirm Russ Vought as OMB Director despite the fact that he said a billion times that he thought Trump had a constitutional right to illegally impound funds, and now she’s doing shocked Pikachu reactions.

#MEpolitics: A must watch from William Turton, one of the journalists behind @propublica.org’s blockbuster Susan Collins corruption investigation, explaining what they discovered, and debunking Collins’ misleading claims or outright lies in response to their extensively researched reporting.

Thanks to @chrislhayes.bsky.social for having me on last night to talk about our investigation into Susan Collins and the falsehoods her campaign has offered in response to our reporting.

Does my Speak-n-Spell feel pain when I type O-U-C-H? The jury is out. Philosophers and neuroscientists say that's fucking stupid, but I called a guy from the Center for Pretending that Household Electronics Are Sentient and he said there's no way to know for sure.

I personally like to focus on actual qualifications. Focusing on superficial details is a slippery slope to bias, and I know I can’t eliminate mine entirely, but I really try to minimize them.

I’m sorry, but if you bring an iced coffee - or any damn beverage at all - to a job interview, you’re disqualified. It’s not hard, people.

We can’t allow this man to get within striking distance of a viable presidential candidacy.

Mother Jones@motherjones.com

Newsom has vetoed a bill that would have prohibited future governors from handing over abortion providers, helpers, and patients to red states for criminal prosecution. The bill also barred extraditions involving transgender care.

Exclusive: In late 2024, FBI agents were looking at Sen. Susan Collins’ role in a massive illegal bribery scheme alleged by a former federal contractor. Then Trump gutted the FBI and DOJ, leaving no one to carry on the investigation – it’s dead. 🧵

Susan Collins said when deciding to support this man that "He told me he believed in the efficacy of the polio vaccine and said he would help restore Americans’ confidence in vaccines and our health agencies." Either she’s an idiot or she lied. Both should disqualify her for another term.

Candidates need to be much more straightforward than this: “You know republicans keep getting convicted of child sexual abuse. Now my opponent is making up an excuse to look in your kid’s pants. I won’t let them.”

Julian Sanchez@normative.bsky.social

I think this is something candidates should lampshade relentlessly: “Why does my opponent want to talk constantly about five trans kids playing volleyball and some Twitch streamer in LA? Is that stuff really important to your daily life? If it’s not, why are they trying to make you feel like it is?”
