I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

The mobilization itself was already not something I ever expected to see, but to actually win? Hell, to double the winning margin from the 2022 runoff? Genuinely surreal. Maybe child raping billionaires *don't* have to run the world with a shit-eating grin. Maybe that can stop.

Thanks to a post by @ebonyteach.blacksky.app, I finally looked up who is behind the heinous anti-Abdul mailer we just got, Empowering Black Americans PAC. Unsurprisingly it’s AIPAC. But as a bonus they apparently helped Wesley Bell win in my old district in St. Louis. Appalling

What's really shocking about this is: who could have foreseen that the digital equivalent of having someone who has never done your job and doesn't know the job and has only heard of the job coming in and trying to do the job would in fact make the job harder and worse?

not only does this report confirm morbidly wealthy shitbags are massively inflating AI firms' value/import but it also explodes the lie that "AI makes us more efficient"

AI is like a new hire who never gets better. If they were a person, you would have fired them by now. Unless of course they were a nepo hire... like the nephew of one of the rich company owners... ...oh wait... ... threw myself off track with the aptness of my metaphor.

Our economy is running on a pure sugar-high at this point. Just wisps of cotton candy that completely evaporates in our mouth so we gobble up more and more. Stop electing conservatives and that includes neoliberal Dems. We need socialism and massive regulation on capitalists.

This analyst's report from Apollo about AI uses the term "S&P 493" to refer to the "S&P 500 minus the Mag 7" - because if you take out the AI companies, the S&P 500 is tanking. www.apollo.com/wealth/insig...

Car safety, Internet access / WWW invention, vegetarian food options, no public smoking, better booze but also better NA drinks, coffee...and while things are bad right now I believe a lot of this is the backlash of a dying old order. History is having a setback, but it's on the right road.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

DM: "I am the Knight of the Green Tunic, your friend!" G: "We <3 you GTK!" DM: I, the Knight of the Green Tunic Knight, must go." G: "GTK Don't Go! So sad!" DM 2 sessions later: "Death is certain, but just then, a man in a Green Tunic comes to aid you!" G: "Ugh, who's this jerk?"

"Zero coercion - She is free to make her own choice! She can do exactly what I say when I say and enjoy my continued financial support, OR she is free to do as she likes, leave and discover that her trad upbringing has made her completely dependent upon men like me. Her call!"

Democrats should really feature these creeps their extensive ties to this administration.

Man, Hegseth's Department of War is even more buffoonish than everything else. Kinda amazed how the US military didn't just have some basic war plans they could activate. Their lack of preparedness is astonishing. meidasnews.com/news/so-much...

Democrats don’t just need to win, they need to win by margins that make Republican ratfucking ineffective and pundits‘ efforts to downplay a mandate laughable. Pour it on. Do not let up.

the idea phase is the easiest and least valuable part of professional creativity. read the first draft of the first Star Wars if you doubt me Great art is made in the grinding, often miserable collision between the ethereal substance of an idea and the mud and blood and friction of reality

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

One that actually worked so that my mother could get to work & pick up groceries. One that didn't leak blue smoke into the back seat. One that had a working heater. One that didn't catch fire. One that didn't cost its purchase price in repairs every two months.

Elon absolutely sucks but this is just a preview of the kind of control AI companies are playing for with their push into government, education, and every other industry

How depressing that WW3 breaks out and the leader of the Free World is Donald fucking diaper filling Trump. Movies taught me that the president during a crisis would have a square jaw, a cleft chin and good hair...and control of their bowels and wouldn't be openly lusting for his own daughter.

I see a news headline like this and I immediately think "okay, but what did he *really* do? Ban gender affirming care? Criminalize abortion even further? Outlaw being gay?"
