It's especially bullshit given that there are multiple cases where the women's division was created via this pattern: 1) men and women compete side by side 2) women do well and beat men a couple times 3) women banned 4) time passes 5) separate women's division created with different rules

Mallory Moore@sexabolition.blog

The real unfair competition women are being forced into with men is having women's sports constantly separated off as a distinct event which is made to compete commercially with much better funded and socially and institutionally enfranchised men's sporting events & found inadequate by that standard

A reminder, because it is almost that time of year: More children are killed by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year, by far. www.vox.com/future-perfe... If you're a parent, I hope you'll do what you can to keep kids safe. If you're driving on Saturday, PLEASE exercise extra caution.

I think it's beautiful when art effects people so deeply they'll go to these lengths to try to save a particular project, I just wish we had any kind of organized body for creative workers across industries that could funnel this energy into actually supporting the people who created the art

Does it need to be said that Mass Effect shouldnโ€™t exist without the developers and team that was working on this game? Either they come back and make the game they were, or Mass Effect dies. kotaku.com/mass-effect-...

insane that it took 10 years for people to start speaking candidly about donald trump on the national stage lmao

El-Sayed on Trump's cognitive tests: "I went to medical school...In my neurology unit, I would have to give that MoCA exam...The only people that you give a MoCA test to are people who you worry may have cognitive deficits. By definition, if you're taking one of those tests, something's wrong."

not that people weren't talking candidly about him in general before, but like every political hopeful or newscaster talked around him for a DECADE when what they should have been doing was saying "did yall see what he said? yeah he's a liar and has cognitive disabilities we shouldn't elect him"

Google was really trying to hide its water use figures, to the degree that it got the council to try to keep its water use figures secret. The community finally got the actual numbers and found out Google was using 29 percent of the water in the community. www.wired.com/story/what-t...

Here's the thing I respect cheap creatives immensely. I respect Hannah Barbera pioneering budget television animation with looped backgrounds and banked run cycles. I respect Cannon films pumping out action movie shlock by reusing sets and old footage. AI sick CEOs are something else entirely.

This absolutely rules. I don't care if Bluesky isn't Twitter circa 2016; it's a great place to hang out, chat with cool folks, learn new things, and most importantly, not get bombarded with slurs.

This letter was first started in England and has traveled around the world once a year, bringing good luck to everyone who received it. Now, it has been passed on to you. You must send this letter, along with six copies, to seven people who need good luck.

to be slightly less fearmongery it seems to mostly be ai agents accessing the accounts of people who first granted them access because they got an โ€œai assistantโ€ or whatever but they are doing unauthorized activity in the accounts now, but after the php debacle this week who knows what theyโ€™re in

i think trump being elected sent white people on a decades long Spiral bc now they're being affected by policies/laws/etc. that used to only mostly affect poc. and that first dose of Real Actual Fear i think explains why so much of the vibe online has gotten more and more rancid over the years since

bsky is full of people who are just as reactionary as people on the rest of the internet (bc people as a whole are deeply intensely hair trigger reactionary atm) but fsr like to pretend they *aren't* being super reactionary?? ๐Ÿ˜ญ not to shade the userbase again ofc

Hundreds of thousands of children were literally killed due to Elon Muskโ€™s actions. Yet you will still see people treating him like just any public figure, buying Teslas, etc. The world is a dark place. Especially the parts that treat the rich as inherently more valuable than everyone else.
