Got my early voting on today. First chance getting to use one of the accessible voting machines, that was pretty easy. #CripTheVote #a11y

The machines our county has turn on a screen reader when you plug in a pair of headphones and are operated using a keypad on a side of it. It gave great instructions for using it and was pretty intuitive. When I was done, it just printed my ballot and I dropped it in the box like anyone else.

omg, you tell me it'd be even worse if I ever actually made a political donation? I've never done it and never will.

Phil Lewis@phillewis.bsky.social

Voters are receiving so many political texts, calls and mailers that some are reconsidering ever donating to a campaign again “I must get at least 10-20 texts A DAY from literally every single candidate in the country," a Colorado voter said. "It makes me never want to make a contribution again"

I think it would be good for overall morale if the Republicans running on the super popular "I'm a horrible piece of shit...what're you gonna do about it?" platform faced some electoral consequences. I know it would cheer me up for a day or two!

So fucking great to discover my county's website has AudioEye on it when I went just now to see early voting locations. #a11y #CripTheVote

I still think AI systems should be paying me 150k per copyright violation. People keep asking me 'what laws do we need for AI?' and I keep saying 'enforce the fucking ones we already have!' There are copyright laws that should be being enforced right now that just... aren't. B/c it's billionaires.

I know folks get real mad when I say this but in times of widespread security crisis, static sites sure are nice

I used to be one of these, I can't remember if we didn't know or just forgot to do the paperwork. Nice thing was that, after we filed it, we actually got the difference back from the county.

In the vein of "public libraries could never be created today," a pitch for a calculator would get you thrown out of the boardroom. What do you mean, it just maths? Where are the ads supposed to go? How does it send usage telemetry back if it doesn't even have wifi? There isn't even a leaderboard.

Apparently all the Arizona political text spammers have finally figured out I no longer live in Arizona just as all the Texas political text spammers have figured out I'm in Texas now.

Video's played during a town hall meeting today. Coworker posts in a team chat "$10 says that music's AI-generated." I respond "Give me $10." It was The Weekend's Blinding Light. I mean, I absolutely despise modern pop and avoid it like the plague but I instantly recognized the song.

Maybe we don’t let the WSJ be the arbiter of culture. You like midcentury? Rock on. You like shag carpet? Do your thing. Don’t take style advice from a newspaper that would put commodity prices on the front page if an asteroid hit the earth.

I've had the runner-up Cuban sandwich mentioned in this article, that thing is delicious and I'll go out of my way to order it the one day a month it's on the specials board.

So great to stay at a hotel, do valet parking, then get a letter in the mail threatening to sue us because we didn't pay to park in the garage they parked our car in. Even better, this is the second letter and the hotel didn't actually fix it the first time we called about it.
