Lake Superior Academy is a beautiful school that had offered an incredible outdoor learning experience — that is until this Bitcoin mining farm moved in…

Trump is personally responsible for allowing the outbreak of data centers. His billionaire tech bros and bitcoin grifters requested free reign and he gave it to them.

Because of their deep pockets this company will stretch this out & exhaust the coffers of this locale. In Newport, Ellison bought two mansions next to each other and built an art gallery between which wound up being 60K sq ft. ?? why this city did not stop it, was told that Ellison would win anyway.

Noise complaints are grounds to shut the facility down. If you were to generate enough noise to prevent the state government from operating normally, they'd have it stopped as a public disturbance, noise pollution, etc. They'd find something. Should do the same here and shut it down until quiet.

Some of the backstory: Odessa Partners told the township it was a storage facility when they went for the permit. Michael Carbonara, running for Congress in Fla., has his name on the permits. Cloverland Elec. Cooperative was active in bringing Odessa Partners to the area to increase their revenue.

I cannot thank you enough for bringing attention to this. My son is a former student of this school and it breaks my heart to see what they’ve placed next to such a beautiful learning environment. You have the UP’s support!

Nothing says "the future of education" quite like trading a nature walk for the ambient hum of a digital gold rush. We’ve officially reached the era of mining the landscape to mine the ledger.

I will never trust bitcoin I will never ever buy bitcoin or use it!It should be illegal!! I care about cash and credit isn’t that all we should need? These corporations just dupe hard-working small town community people that should be illegal! The noise is unforgiving that is not quality of life!!!

They lied about everything related to their project, from noise pollution and damage to land and water to electricity consumption. After the installation was completed, they became indifferent to the town and its residents.

Cash loses value fast. Bank accounts are easily seized/frozen by governments. Credit can be shut down quickly too. Lots of people like to paint BTC as just a money laundering thing, but governments can be criminal too (look at the US Federal government for example)

Man, building a highly flammable datacenter next to a school has to be a building code violation or something. Like I am surprised with that heat management system it hasn’t burned down already.

Glad you shared this. Many people are visual learners. Without seeing the devastation, the verbal reporting doesn’t have the same impact . And the noise? Loud and distracting! Great job young man!

So, I’d really like to know when this project was approved, were the eyes of the planning bureau officials blinded by the glare from all those graphics cards used for crypto mining?

For those old enough to remember the Weathermen, they warned in the 1960’s and 70’s about the dangers of unchecked capitalism. They were labeled anarchists and radicals. Conservatives fought back by electing Reagan. And here we are sixty years later watching unchecked capitalism ravage our country.

It will soon die my friend. AI will soon break the security of the Blockchain. It’s only basis of trust. Crypto has no use except criminality. Glad you are fighting it and data centers.

Sell to whom? Who would buy next to a building that makes noise 24/7? Just like living next to a data center. Youll never sell your house again.

Bitcoin mining does not benefit the local economy. It sucks dry local resources leaving most to pay for the infrastructure

And the politicians that take the money represent THEM not us!!! Take money out of politics! 🇺🇸 The fact the community flooded the meeting about it coming in and were lied to, tells us about our elected officials that are not doing their homework or are being bought and paid for!!

Democratic candidates have learned to take the time to explain themselves to voters about things their voters care about. From Jon Ossoff to Angie Nixon to Zohran Mamdani and Abdul El-Sayed, they are not name-calling and code-word throwing. They are speaking. It is what voters want and need.

Grown-ups who talk about grown-up problems with grown-up voters who have grown-up cares. Republicans - sit down while grown-ups are talking.

Kids especially have much more sensitive hearing, and this continuous high-pitchedvnoise can being on headaches, difficulty concentrating and other issues. We need to oppose data centers. It's not worth it.

If we can make submarines silent, we can do the same for data centers. This is a choice to not install sound silencing equipment. Call up those guys at Bose, they can help.

I think it would a very educational experience if the Academy started offering courses in historical siege warfare. I'm sure a nearby quarry would sponsor the rocks.

And bitcoin is useless, pointless, energy burning bullshit wealth invented by techbros...why is it even permitted at all? just because it makes aprofit doesn't mean it's good for America.

Question 🙋 Why do people refer to a place that creates fake money -that isn’t tangible + has no real financial value- mining bitcoin? There is no digging or unearthing involved with a con market that is a local resource eating machine that steals from both the residents and their ignorant buyers.

Because the people in charge are DESPERATE to create a Closed Loop Economy where Growth is Infinite but nothing is actually produced (And thus operating costs are as minimal as possible).

Economic growth isn’t designed to be infinite. That’s why bitcoin is more sustainable than most modern currencies. It’s quantity is limited by an algorithm, valuable resources are bound by the limits of reality; something money used to rely on.

Near as I can make sense of it, "bitcoin mining" is a 100% bullshit term, to make it sound like people are doing actual work and something productive is happening. It's a data center.

There’s nothing inherently valuable about gold, silver, platinum or diamonds. They were worthless until mankind decided they weren’t. They sat in dirt or rock since they were created, but one day people started killing one another to get them. Same thing with bitcoin.

Nah, motherfucker. Gold, silver, platinum and diamonds actually exist. They have value insofar as they have actual uses. Bitcoin is entirely made up bullshit.

When Democrats take back power in both the House and Senate and pass the crypto industries regulations that Biden passed and Trump canceled, those places will fold faster than Trump can say "it will drop like a rock"

That's noise pollution. Those poor children. As usual, these companies are focused on their enrichment only. Bitcoin? JFC The big trouble is that these data center companies have massive amounts of money and can destroy the small guy no matter how righteous their lawsuit is. It's unbridled power. 🚫

share.google4 surprising health effects of noise pollutionNoise pollution can have significant effects on your heart health, stress level, cognition and mental health. Learn how much noise is too much.

It’s all just a digital show to make you think that you’re gaining money this way crypto and bitcoin is just a scam and it’s used extensivelyby money launderers or anybody stupid enough to invest in it to move cash around without any regulation.

Follow the money. Who benefited from allowing, permitting, licensing? Who agreed to property tax, income tax reductions? How do these data centers and bitcoin mining centers get approved for locations that impact environment and quality of life for nearby neighbors, schools, and businesses?

They lie about everything associated with their enterprise, from noise to harm of the land and water, to amount of electricity they'll use. After installing they just don't care about the town and it's people.

my sister lived in $1 million plus home neighborhood and her neighbor across the street was doing bitcoin mining. The noise was so awful. Unfortunately, homeowners association didn’t anticipate anybody doing this so he was fighting it. Eventually, he decided to stop. He was a doctor for God sake.

And what about animals in the vicinity? How is it affecting them? Data Centers are a scourge. Destroy them all.

SAY NO TO DATA CENTERS!!! THEY WILL REMOVE YOUR PEACE & PRIVACY. THEY WILL KNOW YOUR ADDRESS, YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS, BANK ACCOUNTS, SOCIALS, CREDIT REPORTS, LICENSE PLATES, WHERE YOUR CHILDREN GO TO SCHOOL. THEY WILL DRAIN OUR ELECTRICITY, OUR WATER, KILL OUR JOBS & HACK OUR ELECTIONS.

nytimes.comBill Gates Warns A.I. Is More Dangerous Than Big Tech Will AdmitIn an hourlong interview, he said his industry was downplaying the risks, which he believes include mass unemployment and bioterrorism.

Cities tell people to clean up junk in their yards, cut the grass, turn down the music all the time. Seems like the city would be able to make them reduce the noise or pay big fines. Fines should eat up any profit.

I grew up about 30 miles from here. You have to understand that Dafter has a population of 1,000-2,000 people. It’s not a city with resources to fight this. Even if you pool 100% of the town’s wealth, they don’t have the money to litigate this themselves.

The tech companies are seeking these places throughout the country precisely because they are small very rural and do not have resources to fight them. What is most alarming is this place was built specifically to launder $. Seems like the State should step in to fix this one!

The county should be stepping in. If they are too small, then the state should get involved. IMO, the government should be serving the people first and business second. We need business, but not to the detriment of residents. Doesn’t matter if it’s noise pollution or air/water pollution.

There is a 100 acre property right across from me and 50 ac next to that. The owners are pushing 80. He said someone offered him $2 mil a few months ago but he told them he wanted $4mil. I worry about what will happen to that property when the owners decide to hang it up.

Somewhere in front of or behind that data center is a main shut off valve. Towns should use it and then lock it out. Maybe the town can act like a rich SOB (kind of trumpy) and drag it out in court for years and years.

AI Overview Cryptocurrency mining is the process where computers solve complex mathematical puzzles to verify blockchain transactions and secure the network. In return, miners earn newly minted digital coins and transaction fees. It acts as the backbone for proof-of-work blockchains like Bitcoin.

Okay, so let's say You want to be a crypto miner. You can either be small scale or large scale. At small scale, you buy 1-3 desktop computers, turn them on and NEVER TURN THEM OFF AGAIN. They run a data mining program that generates very long and complicated strings of math equations.

Your computer is then the little 'miner'. Everytime it solves one of these math problems it gets a little token that is a unit of digital money with no actual material worth BUT quite often these math formulas can be used after as secure individualized codes because only your 'miner' can answer it

Ah! Playing Minecraft in a basement DOES have a career path! How many "lives" do they get? Is Luigi allowed to come in, periodically, to rid their "world" of "the bad guys"? Who gets to cut off their internet if they decide to do good instead of evil? Can they use their tokens at other arcades?

It is like digital gold, that gets harder to create as time goes on, which can be used to avoid international sanctions when trying to move money or buy certain items that aren’t legal in their country.

Ohhh nooo. Always and always I was under the impression that the Upper Peninsula was forever protected and pristine until the end of time. How was this allowed to happen???

we also need to STOP these 1,000,000 sq ft Amazon distribution centers. with Semi Trucks stopping 24/7 - destroying roads, increasing traffic, all that noise. Stop Them !!!!

Maybe if we did not build every school in the country on the cheapest most worthless land we can find we would not have schools being built on landfills, under high tension power lines, on top of toxic chemical waste dumps, next to industrial centers, and data centers...

Remember AMWAY? Only the first few suckers who bought into it made money. Remember the Pyramid Schemes? Yea, same thing. Now there are Bitcoin Mining Farms. Who knew people could be so stupid? I guess the crooked criminals did, and are laughing all the way to the bank.

This is one of the many reasons I’m excited to vote for you this week Abdul . You’re visiting all parts of Michigan and showing you care about the things we Michiganders care about. Just donated again as well. Praying for big victories in a couple of weeks! 🙏🗳️🇺🇸

Also, mufflers, like tech/environmental/moral issues aside, mufflers exist, make them for those things too expensive you say? Maybe the tech is isn't there yet to do what they're doing.

It’s absolutely mind boggling that we would allow these already billionaires to destroy our communities with these data centers so they can be richer. Destroying communities and Mother Earth, polluting our water and now sound pollution from something we don’t even need. 🫠😤😽

Plano Texas used to be a lovely place before they built a fortified Muslim Only Base of Operations inside it & covered the town & state with Mosques! Democrats complain about data centers, but I would rather live by a data center than a mosque!

… maybe Im an old school New Yorker. And of course I don’t condone destroying stuff. But that lil mining facility looks breakable…. Of course, please do this the right way.
