For all the “Russia participates in the START treaty which is why the bombers we’re in the open” level of cope out there: No they don’t. They suspended their participation in 2023. They just thought the bombers we’re safe

Zelensky and Ukraine have really risen to the challenge and driven new levels of warfare to Putin's doorstep. I'm sure trump will now try to apologize to Putin for not warning him.

It looks like Ukraine has used a variety of triggers for their rolling aircraft carrier trucks (or Russia hasn't blocked Ukrainian military access to the Russian internet) because there are apparently a few of them still out there, releasing their cargo: bsky.app/profile/noel...

Bad days for Russian aviation. Russian aviation related channel Fighterbomber confirms: a massive drone strike hit the airbase in Borisoglebsk (Russia) overnight. Russia has confirmed casualties among personnel — fatalities are reported.

People compare the Ukraine attack on Russian strategic bombers to Pearl Harbor. I don't think that's valId. The Ukrainian military just conducted the equivalent of the Doolittle Raid of WWII. But where Doolittle did minor damage, Zelniski's blow was *devastating* as well as morale-boosting.

Lots of Ukrainian CHILDREN “just sitting there, not bothering anyone” either, Blockhead. Just shut your gaping orange piehole, TACO. You are no longer relevant to the Ukraine situation. Grownups have now stepped up.

Don't worry, Adam. The KKKristofascist nationalists, i.e. the core of the GOP for the past 60 years or so, are most definitely taking notes and daydreaming of ways to use drones w/in the next couple of years to establish primacy. TX's and WI's "patriots" see it as viable means of vengeance on NY/MA.

It’s time once again for America to become the “Arsenal of Democracy” (F.D.R.) in a fight against a homicidal dictator and provide Ukraine with all the armaments and intelligence necessary to defeat Putin. The fight is not with the Russian people only it’s corrupt leader and his wealthy supporters

They sold the netting on the black market. They're is a endemic culture of personal graft in the Russian military going back to the Soviet era.

Trump and Vance were in the presence of greatness. They insulted Zelinsky. They allowed Brian Glenn (aka, a nobody), to shoot off his mouth as well. The words "drone attack", should turn their blood cold.

Reagan, H.W., Clinton all worked hard on the START treaties supporting them and expanded on them. Junior Bush let them lapse because you know, the reading thingy. Obama picked them up, made a deal to keep them going, Trump let them fall to the wayside in season one. Thank the Astrologist.

Watching the public cellphone videos makes it clear from the fear and confusion from folks that they never expected to have the war touch them like this in Siberia and other places distant from the front. Ukraine spreading the fighting to the interior is a huge victory itself.

Yep. Their defences around Murmansk and Polyarny are designed to counter NATO strike aircraft, bombers, cruise missiles. They got SAMs, fighter aircraft, radar tuned to find fast moving big things and kill them. All of which are useless against a swarm of cheap small drones.

For those who may not know what START is Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, dates back to early talks in the 1980s, first proposed by Regan, signed in 1991, again by GW Bush, and renewed in 2009 by Obama. Extended in 2021 for 5 more years. www.state.gov/new-start-tr...

Thank you for that clarification. The US has chosen to be on the side of Russia. I sure hope that's the losing side. Maybe we can reclaim the US when Putin/Trump is seen as a loser.

Even if they *did* participate, somewhere flapping around out there in the breeze there is a treaty from the 90s stating that Russia will respect Ukraine's sovereignty in exchange for giving up its nukes. If there are no rules, there are no rules. For either side.

Yes, there were multiple levels of betrayed trust here. If anyone wonders why Iran and North Korea are so reticent about nukes, all they really need to do is look at the fate of nations that agreed to give them up.

Trump destroyed the only 2 US spy planes left from the open skies treaty where the US could verify Russian military assets with overflights. He had them physically destroyed right before Biden took office. Christmas present to Vladimir Putin.

Boot’s point was that this raid using drones on trucks changed warfare in the same way that Japan’s use of aircraft carriers did. This was a novel way to attack. Read the fucking article before you jump in, maybe? Learn history? Get lost, patronizing man.

He must be crying his eyes out, what Ukraine did was something that the US could only dream about during the Cold War. The planes destroyed are unique, they can’t be manufactured anymore since ruzzia doesn’t have the know how. Many were Ukrainian design made while they formed part of the USSR.

Exactly Every day my level of respect and admiration for Zelinski grows!! And my level of disgust and disrespect for Trump and his party of Trump mobsters, criminals and shameless traitors grows too!

Start a war, and expect no retaliation. I will not be reading any books written by Russian military strategists. These guys make Hegseth look like a grandmaster.

Ukraine agreed to give up their weapons on the condition that Russia would not attack them, and NATO would protect them. They've been betrayed and are learning modern warcraft on the fly... I would say they would be an asset to NATO... far more than America right now

It’s Yanukovich, but you are 100% right. Yanukovych dictatorship key characteristics include: * Concentration of Power * Persecution of Political Opponents * Increased Corruption and Cronyism * Suppression of Media Freedom * Pro-Russian Shift * Use of Force against Protesters

Putin literally makes military decisions based on image and perception. He will kill his own men rather than even risk looking weak. Parades, big demonstrations, obvious exaggerated claims and yet at the beginning of the war Russia didn't have enough trucks keep up supply lines. Empty nesting Doll.

Look just below the headline (which is accurate). Any military commentator calling Ukraine’s version of the “Doolittle Raid” Russia’s “Pearl Harbor” is a dolt or a Russian Stooge!

How do you accidentally post "we're" instead of were, and do it twice? Posting from a silly smartphone with auto-"correct" turned on? Those silly things clearly need to be improved to better understand context and grammar.

Other pathetic excuses: - We still have plenty aircraft and other ways to shoot missiles so it doesnt matter we just lost 7 billion; - It was organised by NATO so Ukraine shouldnt have the credits for it; - Russia is winning on the ground anyways; - Nobody was hurt.

You should also assume your shit isn't safe when you go to war with another country. Especially assuming bullshit like the treaty you specifically broke to attack said country being a reason to protect your shit from them.

I don't disbelieve that those planes were in use. Not at all. What I don't believe is the claim that the planes had to be parked in the open, in order to comply with a treaty. (This is what pro-Russian MAGAts are claiming.)

Not-so-thought-well 2023 SALT opt out, beams disaster for kremlin leaders whose zests to mimic imperial age mastered by dark old Soviet times marked by obfuscation techniques refined for the era of mass subjugation overshadows all else. This’s direct tragic implications&I think it’s slippery slope 📉⬇️

When will the media address that this well-deserved win in Ukraine should also cause Americans to shudder? Ukraine kept the U.S. in the dark (smart) but that means that it's likely that most other Intel operations, globally, did the same. How "in the dark" are we? @meidastouch.com

Exactly. The GOP knows we're are now at a disadvantage in the Intel community. Trump and Gabbard are Putin allies and can't be trusted. No government will put its assets at risk just to have the U.S. feed info to the kremlin. I never thought I would type those words. Heartbreaking...

Even if they were still in the treaty SO FVCKING WHAT? They invaded a sovereign nation and don't obey any rules of combat themselves. To paraphrase a line from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid: "There are no rules in a knife fight."
