NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman on rockets crashing into the moon: "It's not a big deal right now. The moon has clearly seen better days."

Yup. Humans are an invasive species that consistently spoils their own habitat and recklessly degrades their ecosystems. The rest of the world creatures (except dogs, maybe) will be glad to be rid of us.

there exists a world of unparalleled beauty with plenty of it man-made and you can't see it because you're too busy agreeing with the death cult that humans are bad. you know what nature doesn't create? art. not that you can understand such a thing, you're indistinguishable from a bot.

It's the Moon... What is "wondrous" about the Moon? It is literally bombarded with meteorites day after day for millions of years. There's a very good reason it looks the way it does and Earth does not.

The comment made on TV that this thread is about is how the moon has "seen better days". Nothing that has happened in the lifetime of the person making that comment has altered it's current state. There were no "better days" that anyone alive can remember. So the comment is asinine at best.

Splitting hairs. It's literally the shield we have as to not have to worry about it constantly raining flaming space rocks. The whole point of the Moon is to look like it has seen better days, so we can continue to eek out our seemingly pointless existence one more day.

I understand the point you're trying to make but we're not unique in this sense. We're animals w/o any natural predators, essentially, and we're desperately working to find some to cut us down. It works this way with all animals, we're just smart enough to know better but choose not to.

"Spacex debris unintentionally crashes into the far side of the moon. It is thought that it poses no danger to Earth". JFC On A Tricycle. We're behaving like a 10yr old who's been caught smashing a window with a ball. I fucking despair of humanity. Or more accurately the American bit.

AI must write their talking points. “The moon has clearly seen better days” wtf is that even supposed to mean? “ChatGPT revise my prompt about why my ex isn’t important once I found a younger female but talk about the moon instead.”

This has been treated entirely too cavalierly I believe. Carelessness, hubris, money. Stir in ignorance. It's only the biggest thing in orbit around us, visible with the naked eye and they "ACCIDENTALLY" crashed into the effing moon.

Does anyone actually believe Elon is embarrassed by this? He probably thinks it’s as awesome as his convertible in orbit around earth playing David Bowie to an audience that can’t possibly hear it because there’s no air. Much like this talking-airheads brain.

Translation: at some point second stages landing on the moon will be reusable. In order to get there... yeah, there will be lots of trash left on the moon. Musk is a pariah. His "visions" are pariah dreams.

To think the moon has been around thousands of years and inspired countless people and civilizations. Either through song, literature and art. The moon was even a deity in some mythology. Even now a full moon earns our attention. A man working at NASA should show more respect.

No one seems concerned about the fate of the World w/what happens in outer space. We just keep cluttering it up w/our space shit. It's going to come back & bite us in the ass. Starting w/debris hitting the Moon.

What the hell does that even mean? It's like the old Lewis Black bit about the stupidest thing he'd ever heard, i can feel my brain shutting down trying to figure it out. Did this jackass just get the job cause his head looks like a satellite!?

Human hubris is hurling us towards extinction. But yeah let’s continue to blow shit up. Each time they send a rocket to space it increases climate warming adds more pollution and brings us closer to extinction. FAFO is around the corner.

The same country that managed to Land actual Human beings ON the moon and return them home safely almost half a century ago (Feeling Old yet?).. Had a Re-Usable Space Transport Vehicle Program aka. Spaceshuttle decades ago.. is now struggling to safely land anything on the Moon?

The moon was better off before we started hitting it with our spacecraft. Just look at all those pristine massive craters, untouched by humans.

As crazy as Isaacman's response is (and is spectacularly crazy), the Fox News guy starts with claiming he's not a "rocket surgeon"........

I would normally expect more of the NASA administrator to understand and talk about the reasons for it (and there are) but maybe I should just be thankful he doesn’t believe the moon is made of cheese, or that we’ve never gone there

What does this even mean? The moon is trashed already so it doesn't matter much. Or oops, we've messed up the moon a little bit - it's "better days" are a thing of the past? 🤷‍♂️

Republicans will get us all KILLED! Democrats MUST win #2026Midterms so we can take OUR government back from incompetent & corrupt Republicans. #2026Elections #MoonCrash

Crashing onto moon is not bad because: 1) it is infrequent - it is also infrequent that you send rocket to moon 2) you will recycle remains - so ok if cars crash themselves because scrap metals will be reused. No wonder the chief of rapid unscheduled disassembly backs this guy as NASA administrator.

Same thing they say about the environment, but there have been over 45k wildfires since 2025, the amount of devastating earthquakes, floods, the heat wave that killed thousands, water is becoming very scarce, and those are just the things I can think of.

The current Administrator is the least controversial to the orange felon, GOP enablers, which means for real space science: this is the most useless to the country and NASA...

"Blue moons? They're in terrible shape. The Democrats have let them crumble. Filthy, dirty. Full of crime. We can crash a rocket into one and they can't even stop us. It's something we're allowed to do."
