O'KEEFE: You have been writing letters & trying to get updates on the status of McConnell. Have you heard anything? BESHEAR: I have heard absolutely nothing back from Mitch McConnell... all he needs to do is do a video for 2 minutes to the people he's supposed to serve, but he absolutely refuses to

Why? And, why would it be the Dems responsibility to run down a missing GOP Senator, when the GOP is doing nothing. The GOP is down a Senate vote. Hurray for Dems.

Why? Really? He’s not doing his job and is most likely deceased or incapacitated and the repubs are lying about it. His constituents deserve to be represented just as every American does.

Common on, the man is incapacitated, unable. One way or another do a wellness check. Ask the questions a doctor might ask, what year is it, where are you? When will you return to work? If he can't answer, replace him.

The next logical question seems to be, “May I please speak with the person he told that he refuses?” (‘Please’ unnecessary of course…

Beshear is the governor. He shouldn't have to wait for a two-minute video. That's for the likes of me. He should rate a ten second phone conversation, or even better, a 10 second face time.

I'm so sick of McConnell obstructing whenever the hell he feels like it. He behaves like a bully—doing what he likes—despite what the rules are or what decorum dictates. He did this with Obama's Supreme Court nominee and now with refusing to provide evidence that he's still capable of serving.

Beshear is all talk. He claims there is nothing else he can do about Mitch "Bermuda Triangle" McConnell. A ruthless politico might decide to appoint a Democrat to Mitch's seat with the claim that McConnel is obviously incapacitated. Yes, it would end up in the courts.

But it would put the GOP on defense, and that is the point of a political stunt. Sometimes, political stunts pay dividends. McConnell did political stunts all the time, and some paid off for him (abusing the Senate filibuster is one such example).

The seat is not vacant & cannot be filled. Andy already said he’d test the law until he found out that the seat is not considered vacant by the Senate. Even if Andy could appoint a Dem, the Senate can refuse to set that person.

Beshear has also argued that we all need to put pressure on Sen Thune and the rest of the GOP senators. How else to do that then? Beshear says it's vacant and appts a DEM. Then, the Senate rejects his move, but he throws the onus on Thune to prove the seat is not vacant.

That’s not how any of this works. There is no vacancy, Beshear has zero authority to declare one per the US Constitution, nor is he legally able to appoint a Dem if there were. Thune doesn’t have to “prove” anything. Beshear will look like an idiot (which he would be) and get impeached to boot.

Gov Bashear obviously either doesnt know he has the authority to figure this bs out, or he won’t. Talking all that stuff, but when it comes to actions he’s just another Merrick Garland in the role of a governor

And if you would do your research you would find out he’s done everything he can under a GOP controlled state that McConnell set up two years ago because he knew he was going into worse health and there is strategy in the fact that he is leaving Republicans with one less vote in a thin margin.

This is hurting Beshear more than McConnell (whether dead or alive). We need fighters. If this wasn't helping the GOP they would reveal the truth so I don't buy that it's good not to have him voting in the Senate right now. Something is up.

We've not heard from this Old Geezer bc, he has, "Bit the Dust," already. Common guys, doesn't anyone think its a little, "suspect" that NOBODY has heard a single peep from, "Bernie," I mean, "Mitch," excuse me ("Weekend at Bernie's" joke)? 😆😆😆

Beshear you need to put out on the Media to the bosses of Mitch McConnell the constituents if you dont mind him on your tax dollar not working or informing you in real time of his status are you going to let him ride on your tax dollars no representation as long as he wants !

He could have appointed a replacement for McConnell, or at least called the special election--which a Republican would've done in a heartbeat, were the situation reversed--thus forcing Rs to prove McConnell is still alive and functional. Any court challenge would have compelled proof of life.

He cannot appoint. KY legislator changed that. Technically he could have gone to court over it. However, he could simply send the State Troopers to the door to do a wellness check, right? Andy Beshear is a smart guy. He’s got something up his sleeve. He’s literally made zero attempts to force it.

Because he CAN'T. If he's not dead, he's incapacitated. Andy needs to appoint someone and let the GOP sue him. That's the GOP way. It's exactly what they would do if it's was a Democratic senator.

Stop the madness, Mitch McConnell is resting comfortably at home. In all seriousness, I say appoint another Senator and force the issue.

Here’s a wild idea for the Governor. Instead of writing letters, go to his house or wherever he’s supposed to be. Tired of this “I wrote a letter” bullshit.

So here’s the thing…Mitch is in his DC house with Capitol Police posted outside. Andy has no authority in DC or over US Senator Mitch. Maybe his GOP KY constituents would have more pull. I doubt it.

He can absolutely go to their house and demand to talk to McConnell. If he denied, that’s fine. That’s a better actual attempt than “I wrote a letter”.

He will be denied. So, it’s ok to waste KY taxpayer money to fly there, be turned away & fly back home. Don’t forget the Ubers. He would need pre-approval to approach Mitch.

Yes, there was a deadline to call a special election and it has passed. So now it’s on to the midterm election in Kentucky to see who wins Mitch’s seat. For now, Mitch holds it and he is not voting.

Why? It benefits Democrats. Their majority is weaker without McConnell. Would be stupid to start any malarkey so close to the midterm election. And costly. We’ll handle it in November. For now, let him rot. Support our friend @booker4ky.bsky.social for McConnell’s seat

The commercials write themselves. Democrats need to point out that McConnell wanted to strip people of paid leave. Just plaster that s*** all over TV and the internet. Use his own words against him. It's really not that hard. It's obvious McConnell (not his staff) cannot push back. Use that.
