There isn’t another politician in the US who has earned that sort of response. Not perfect and not on the side of every issue that I am. But a man of honor, a man of service, and a man of love and empathy. I hope there will be another soon.

Maybe that's part of the issue. So many prefer to worship than consider real policy. I am pro Obama for sure, though his wall street friendly admin deserves critique too. Why this country such a cult personality? How much better off we could be not trying to pedestal and stan celebrity so much.

But in the end after all the "audacity", the hope, the change, what did he achieve? Isn't the present in considerable part his legacy? He always sounded good, as long as you didn't look beyond the easy rhetorical pyrotechnics. He, Clinton & others just poisoned & readied the aftermath.

Yes he is charismatic. But the main reason for the response is that, despite whatever policy mistakes he made, he tried to do the right things, and tried to get the best outcomes despite heavy opposition.

He represents the hope we had for our country. He wasn’t perfect, made plenty of mistakes, most of which he will gladly admit himself, but he’s a damn good man and easily the best President of my lifetime.

Milennials overwhelmingly voted for him. His election made it feel like maybe what they said in the 90's had been true. Maybe we'd finally progressed. 2016 was like a slap in the face.
