There's so much else wrong with this stupid lawsuit but on this specific point: despite being "busy" with "lives" and "jobs," Alaskans were able to spell M-U-R-K-O-W-S-K-I when they reelected her to the Senate as a write-in candidate in 2010 after she lost the GOP primary.

Q: Why shouldn't Alaskans find it insulting that the administration is suggesting they can't read the word 'incumbent' on their ballot and know to vote for Sen. Sullivan? JD VANCE: People are busy. People have lives. People have jobs.

In a time of rising antisemitism, we could use an organization dedicated to opposing it. Instead we have the ADL, which shrugs at Sieg Heils and anti-Jewish slurs at the top levels of govt to fixate on this. I grew up a few miles from Brighton Beach, and we called the area "Russian," not "Jewish."

1. Not sure when a new, on-the-record rape allegation against a sitting president isn’t considered news — especially considering Trump was found liable by a jury in a similar case — but it was ignored by most mainstream media outlets

You can do the same thing, buying a house and borrowing against it—ha ha, just kidding, normal people get taxed annually on their wealth via property taxes, the "you can't tax wealth, the economy will collapse!" rule applies solely to the super-rich.

Steven T. Dennis@steventdennis.bsky.social

For the fabulously wealthy, paying taxes is pretty much optional. They can borrow against their vast wealth, which is mostly an untaxed capital gain, without paying taxes. When they die, the capital gain goes to zero. And loopholes exist to bypass the estate tax too.

It's really damning. The accusations are numerous and well-supported. But I was really struck by the descriptions of Trump's behavior -- the name dropping, strong-arming, and attempts to buy off silence. His gross rivalry with Epstein. It's all so familiar. I don't know that there is a template or a "secret sauce" or a clear-cut lesson to take from this. But if there is one it's the idea of treating social media as the hostile territory that it is, of actually acting like you are a participant in propaganda warfare and not like a consumer.

So Lula not only won, he basically doubled his margin of victory from 2022. I'm guessing he won thanks to voters who didn't love him, but were terrified to see Flavio given near-dictatorial power. It's going to be a messy next chapter for Brazil, but at least it'll be a fight, not a curb-stomping.
