As an outside observer in Canada, I really appreciate the anecdotal data points like this and all the others in the comments that can give any little bit of hope that Trump’s support base might flip eventually.

I think the first admin, especially AGs Sessions and Barr, did a really good job muddying the waters around the Mueller investigation and convinced the rank and file that the election interference was a liberal conspiracy theory.

Before, Trump's relationship with Russia was a bit abstract for low information voters. Ukraine's fight matches a lot of stories that are deeply embedded in American culture, and that's much less abstract. Also, Trump & Vance's behavior violated every norm of hospitality.
