I think if you’re OK with Graham Platner working for Blackwater, you have officially lost the moral high ground required to yell at anyone else for working for a military contractor or being in the military ever again Like sorry you gotta choose!

No, he literally did not. Blackwater went bust in 2010. Erik Prince left. Platner was an embassy guard in 2018 on a Constellis contract for State Dept, not DoD. He drove ambassador's landrover & guarded staffers cavorting in the pool. Witnessed the waste/corruption, quit disgusted, returned to ME.

For so many reasons. He wants to have ICE be trained better which means he’ll increase their budget, and he spent years defending the Palestinian genocide. Then there’s his transphobic position, his gentrification project in South Bend, betrayal of unions and consumers as DOT secretary, etc.

out.comPete Buttigieg's betrayal of trans people will cost the Democratic PartyOpinion: By parroting conservatives on sports "fairness," the former secretary of Transportation shouldn't be surprised if trans people and their allies abandon Democrats.

the people taking L's are me and my fellow progressives. thus my o.p. i want to win the senate. i could care less about your "w's" - they're symbolic (and useless).

Since imo working for Blackwater is Pretty Bad. No one is out there press ganging innocent young boys with innocent tattoos into working for them, and all

It’s a LOT of money, though. I knew somebody who went from making $30k a year shooting video for the Army to $1,000 a DAY working as a contractor in Iraq. Dumb guys generally don’t know about the stuff Blackwater did.

That would almost be a fair point if it weren’t for the fact you had to qualify it with “dumb guys”. Like shouldn’t we expect Senate candidates to have an above room temperature IQ or…?

He seems pretty dumb to me. I used to cover politics in Georgia and there are some STUPID motherfuckers in high office. I mean, I’m not in Maine, but I wouldn’t vote for him in a primary.

That's not a dumb guy. A dumb guy is somebody like me, who went to law school at UNC and decided to become a public defender instead of trying to find a law firm job or going into private practice where I probably could've been making in five years what it took me 20 to get working for the state.

I mean, a smart guy would do the math and say, "Fuck making moral and ethical choices and trying to do something with your life that possibly helps someone and stands up for a system you believe in, I could be making the money." Me, I was just too dumb to American correctly, y'know?

Then it sounds like he's not fucking intellectually curious enough to be in the Senate, since if we take him at his word, he didn't even know his tattoo was a nazi tatto until late last year.

I guarantee there’s at least a small overlap between people excusing Platner and people who would tell me to kill myself because I work for a health insurance nonprofit.

I don't think anyone really gave a shit about Ana Mardoll working at Lockheed Martin per se, so much as they enjoyed putting the boot in now that the sanctimonious bullying scold was finally fallen from favour.

I’ve met a lot of Blackwater contractors because I unwittingly trained (and stayed for free at what was called “the teamroom”) at one of their main training hubs when I was 18. It was awful & full of *insane* partying every night. I’m not saying every BW guy is bad, but I haven’t met a good one lol.

You don't understand. The fact he actually killed people legitimizes him. That's a feature not a bug. I think it goes something like that.
