THE RECESSION IS HERE! The CEO said the Iran war resulted in “recession-level industry decline” in the U.S., with record low consumer confidence in late February & March, as … the company “acted decisively to address pricing and costs in the face of rapid deterioration in macroeconomic conditions.”

Huh, it's almost like our economic system requires people to have a healthy bank account to be able to buy things to keep the system afloat. No demand, your supply rots in the warehouse. This is why a regulated mixed economy like we used to have is better than "free market" chaos.

I used to try to buy appliances made in the USA. It meant that they were made with better materials and workmanship. I won't support a fascist regime, so I no longer buy American.

Yeah right If the people believe that nonsense 🙄 Obviously it was struggling prior to any war happening 🙄 To blame it on something thats outa of anyone's control (Trump) Is rather daft 🙄

Whirlpool is producing about 80% of its major appliances at American factories. The belief that Trump’s ‘America First’ economic policies will benefit US manufacturing is pure propaganda.

"Recession-level industry decline" is certainly getting closer to labeling what is happening an actual Trump-created recession. I guess the legal department intervened in the wording there.

1/2: "Rapid deterioration" in consumer spending for appliances because Whirlpool dollars have been poured into consumer's gas tanks to benefit companies like Shell who announced its profits were up 24% in the first three months of 2026, more than twice what Shell made in the previous quarter....

2/2: Can't wait to hear what Chevron and Exxon have to say, they too no doubt will report a windfall in profits for selling products before the oil cost actually hits them. Always ahead of that curve impacting every other segment in the economy raising prices everywhere transferring wealth to them.

I am opposed to any politician who sits by idly & does NOT protect their constituents from LEAF BLOWERS & NOISE POLLUTION. I know they would like us to buy into their partisan bullshit story about how we are divided, about morals, values, issues. I DO NOT buy any of it! I choose my fucking issues...

Yet the corporations and the rich keep getting richer under demented dumpy pants. Waah waah. No sympathy for things that don’t pay their fair share of taxes. Tell whirlpool to stop donating money to fascists.

I am just speculating here, but I imagine the economy is in significantly worse condition than we realize. The Trump administration is lying about everything; the jobs numbers, inflation, unemployment, etc. And the media is normalizing everything and acting like all is business as usual.

It absolutely is. There are many threads on Reddit discussing recession indicators, and just personally things around me are looking like they did the last time we had a big recession if not worse.

Trump fired BLS head Erika McEntarfer for an adverse jobs report then tried to appoint E.J. Antoni (who was in the mob on January 6th) to head the BLS. Trump didn't succeed, but it showed the intent to subvert labour statistics. I've been a skeptic about US labour statistics ever since.

Whirlpool makes crap. When we built our retirement dream home 8 years ago we splurged on Jenn-Air appliances for the kitchen. Dishwasher, wall oven, big built-in fridge/freezer, gas cooktop, and vent hood. Jenn-Air is a Whirlpool brand. Within three years every one of them needed repairs, some twice

Wall oven broke down (second time) two days before we were to host family Thanksgiving. So many of them across the country had died from controller board failure there was a two month backlog to get the repair done. We didn't replace it because they covered the cost despite the expired warranty

The only good thing I know about Whirlpool is that in 2022 they sold their Russian business to the Turkish company Arcelik. So, Arcelik is a bigger threat than Whirlpool.

I understand and this is probably true, but there might be another reason to add. My Whirlpool refrigerator icemaker went out about a month after the warrantee ended. In the last 25 years, this has been my experience.

Same-just completed the paperwork for the class action. I’ve been using a tabletop ice maker and dumping it in the dispenser. The freezer door literally cut into the wires to it every time we opened and closed it. POS.

It's almost comical how all these big business leaders thought that subjecting the economy to the whims of a psychotic narcissistic man with 6 bankruptcies would be good for their business. And now they are surprised?

Rut roh. Working class and poor people suffering, no problem. Oligarchs and shareholders feeling a ding in their bank accounts: Warning bells on the Trumptanic!

Il va vous mettre en faillite et provoquer une récession mondiale pendant que lui, sa famille et amis s,en mettent plein les poches./ He will bankrupt you and cause a global recession while he, his family and friends line their pockets.

To end the treason and tyranny we just have to end the traitors as per US law and code. The trials are coming for our government and corporate overlords alike. Ignorantia juris non excusat "Ignorance of the law is no excuse". Corporations brought us here it's time for them to pay. Justice is coming!

Now consumer staples are tanking. Whirlpool was always considered 'recession proof' since people will always need to wash their clothes, but that was before trump killed the US consumer.

What's that got to do with the price of fish? For all you know the CEO has been doing great work, and has saved hundreds of jobs, despite the financial woes caused by Trump's stupid war.

When I make a purchase I google the company to see how much they and their leaders give to maga. Will not buy from companies who support racism, hatred for LGBTQ community, hatred for immigrants, and so on.

Nothing is made very well anymore, purposely to drive consumerism! THANK A REPUBLICAN for outsourcing American manufacturing for corporate tax breaks! BTW, take your MAGA self elsewhere!

I mean...I can at least say standards have fallen around them. Every appliance I've had has failed in the past month, but at least in my Whirlpool oven's case, it was because I'd stored a baking sheet the wrong way.

There was a brand new Whirlpool appliance package in my kitchen when we bought our house and every single thing has either required multiple repairs or replacement in the 7 years we lived there. Never buy Whirlpool.
