People keep asking us developers to turn shit (human language) into gold (interface into machine). Turns out the same system is very good at turning shit (human expression) into more shit (human expression) and that seemed to be what everyone is excited about.

Whoever thought it was a brilliant move to have ChatGPT write the article probably didn't think long enough to realize the rest of us could just skip reading Newsweek and just ask ChatGPT to writetge article by ourselves.

The optimist in me says that this is evidence that most reporters are objecting to assignments catering to Trump's ego. The pessimist in me says this is evidence that media owners are looking for ways to fire all their human staff.

All AI is only as valid, as accurate, as truthful, as wide in scope as the damn information it is fed. If we feed it stinking offal, it will produce stinking offal.

Probably a true statement…if you ignore what caused the economy to take a huge shit on itself, the implementation of a police state, and are measuring how quickly we are moving into an authoritarian state…

I hate this on principle, but also kudos to whatever intern got paid poverty wages to not do the work. Wasting investor money (newsweek) by wasting other investors’ money (ChatGPT) - got to respect the double dip.

I don’t believe anything Newsweek publishes. Not even the first sentence. Has anyone tried replicating the experiment? Is that really the answer Chat-GPT gives? I doubt it is.

They lack the distinction between “consequential” (which this certainly is) and “successful” (which in any other administration would have meant “beneficial to the country”). Trump is consequential but not successful. He’s also a piece of shit.

ChatGPT picked worst🔻 Donald Trump (2017) Why he’s often listed: • Low approval ratings: Among the lowest in modern history for a new president (~38% by July 2017). • Legislative failures: Repealing the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) failed despite Republican control of Senate

The new investigative reporting? If you want real reporting -- Injustice Town will be released in February and is available for preorder everywhere.

Well if you define success as the usurpation of congressional power without any resistance… you don’t need AI to figure out that Trump has outpaced his predecessors on that front

If you don't filter out the fascists stuff, the conclusion is probably correct. It's much easier for an unchecked authoritarian to "get things done" if you're not considering whether the things are good for the people.

At the very end of AI is random noise. The neural networks strip out all structures of data until it ends up with pure random noise. When it writes its response, it first generates noise and then plugs it into the NN to give something that looks like its training data. Each run will differ.

My kingdom for a general popular understanding that while an LLM can write persuasively based on communications fed into it, the technology doesn’t engage in any reasoning to reach a conclusion and the argument it returns will always be in support of the random conclusion it starts with.
