If the Supreme Court decides that the government can "erroneously" disappear you off the street to a foreign torture prison, and that federal courts have no power to do anything about it, that is, in a meaningful way, Pretty Much It www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/24...

So how much longer are we gonna wait to arm ourselves and march by the millions on DC and Mar a Largo and remove these people? A show of force that large would instantly have the military on our side. OVERWHELMING SHOW OF FORCE.

This is horrify - "that does not license district courts to seize control over foreign relations, treat the Executive Branch as a subordinate diplomat, and demand that the United States let a member of a foreign terrorist organization into America tonight.”

I hope they’re smart enough to realize if they did that, then they’re next once the other side gets back in power. “Oops Justice Thomas is in a Moldovan torture dungeon. What a stupid paperwork mixup. Oh well!” They can’t be that dumb.

Oh no they eventually do get back into power trust me. It’s just not always by traditional means. And it may take a while. Or it may happen quickly. But it will happen. The pendulum always swings back even when it needs to go through brick walls to get back.

It really sounds like this filing was written for Trump’s approval, not to try to persuade SCOTUS of the constitutionality of their actions. Let me guess: written by a Trump toady who replaced a real lawyer fired for being “insufficiently loyal”.

It's broken. The courts don't act as a check the Executive respects, or just do what he wants. Congress does his bidding and wouldn't dream of checking him. He ignores federal judges and s cotus makes custom lawless rulings. Without the rule of law, jobs, affordable goods, social security ...

Supposedly, the ruling was to prevent the lower court judge from holding anyone in contempt and is fairly typical and has no bearing on the case. If you know different, please let us know as I know this is your expertise and definitely not mine.

Same as Congress. There's no separation of powers, no checks or balances, the whole operation supporting whatever a senile sadist comes up with next. We still have federal judges following the law, but it's not much of a comfort, knowing everything will be appealed to the Roberts court

Not only will they say it but they'll repeat it ad nauseum and put it in every piece of paperwork in existence to follow him(us) in perpetuity. They make this shit up. Until it is impossible to fight or refute. Why send anyone to a FOREIGN prison?! Too far away for us to storm them.

Look, I've worked with those in authority with this mindset. They assigned gang affiliation into juveniles' record and state info system as gang affiliated because they brought coffee to an older, respected youth in our program. An artist of note. They will use EVERY cultural norm against them/us.

Honestly that's what the Patriot Act is. "A known or suspected terrorist" is subject to whatever the govt wants to dish out extralegally. Gitmo. I remember being wigged out when Alberto Gonzales, W Bush's AG, followed that up with, "A lot of people in those protest marches look like terrorists."

Any visa holder, illegal immigrant, green card holder, work visa holder could be at risk. This is the most racist effort to rid the US of diverse persons.

I think if they do that will be the impetus for those on the fence to finally realize their 3.5% solution will not matter in this case because the orange turd will not comply with either the will of the people OR the law. It is extremely unlikely this will without bloodshed.

If Trump's legal argument holds, then all Trump has to do is frame every fascist policy as "international relations," so our courts supposedly have no say. They will try to do it, too. Just watch. They bend reality every which way, not caring at all how crazy they will look.

this is obviously what Jesus would do...right Christians? If you support this, is your soul forfeit? Can you cross the pearly gates and support death camps? Just wondering. Perhaps Franklin Graham would know.

If that is what SCOTUS decides, we need to start seriously discussing remedies outside of & in spite of Court. I’m fucking done w/this nightmare. We have right to live in a rep democracy w/equal justice under law. If gvt betrays that obligation, we need to replace gvt by any means necessary.

Ironic that after all this time, it's the Democrats talking about what happens "When in the course of human events..." Then there's that tidbit called the Preamble to the Constitution which says we're entitled to things: Justice, domestic tranquility and general Welfare. I want my country back

Peaceful protests of 3.5% of the population makes hard-core tyrannies fall. It's ironically much harder to overthrow tyrannies if you get violent. 3.5% of the US population is 11 million. The April 5th protests were 5.2 million.

The current problem is not one of population with the will to protest, it's one of resources to organize protests. Join Indivisible and 50501's local organizations near you. Donate your time and money to organizing protests. Put your money where your mouth is.

* If not for the church people with their anti abortion & anti gay, etc., in support of their dead-letter-literal-interpretation of the Bible, to reassure themselves of their blind-faith, with which to force upon all America, there would never have been a president David Koresh Trump. *

Now we will see if the Supreme Court justices understand that the the Constitution and the Bill of Rights put our personal rights to due process above the interests of the government, whoever may be sitting in the White House.

100% And should it happen I have a feeling this administration and the MAGA members of the court will come to lament their strenuous defense of the 2a. I'm not sure if implementing life-threatening authoritarianism has been tried in a country where everyone has ready access to weapons of war.

trump needs to take some of the millions of dollars he is grifting from his fancy pants dinner at his golf palace and pay off El Salvador to return ALL of those men.

We will lose our Constitutional protections and legal protections from being incarcerated for speaking truth to power. We the People are living with a psychopath. If SCOTUS surrenders our protections we are all lost to this Tyrant regime. It’s exactly what King Trump wants. This is insanity.

Question: Is Abrego Garcia a confirmed member of MS-13, as claimed? These deportations are certainly bad if they target people for random tattoos. But, even while I understand the problem of arbitrary disappearances, it must not boil down to support for organized crime! A quick AI search 1/2 ➡️

... showed results, which depict evidence as very vague and questionable. Not deporting people due to expected persecution is mostly right, but not for convicted gang members or terrorists. An issue in many Western countries. Even if they are, there should be a clear legal path for deportation. 2/2

Watched Tim Miller and I was beyond angry all over again. The gay make-up artist who was disappeared to a torture prison (tax payers are footing the bill) was crying for his mother. His crime was not wanting to be murdered by a brutal regime for being gay. Well, he escaped to America.

And discovered he had escaped to another brutal regime, headed by Donald Trump, who is supported by weak and greedy racists, homophobes, and women haters! Keep the heat on and let these pigs know that we are not going to throw away our democracy and our valuing human life. Send these people home!

The SIX, you must remember, HAVE BEEN BOUGHT AND PAID FOR BY THE FEDERALIST SOCIETY FUCKS AND THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION - SO THEY DO NOT CARE. THIS IS MERELY QUID PRO QUO FOR THEM.

Comey-Barrett opinions / voting record has actually been quite the surprise & quite defiant of the far right fanatics (Alito & Thomas.. with a splattering of Gorsuch on the side).

We start with 2 votes for anything they want to do. Anything. So it comes down to 7 justices and he gave 3 of them their jobs for life. That leaves Roberts. That’s it. Roberts. God help us.

Tired of them UN-constitutionally coming after us? DO SOMETHING! Each person find a representative from their state & do a public investigation on them. URL has list of reps & some sites you can use to legally look into them. bsky.app/profile/unit...

John Roberts needs to go get this guy and bring him home. The government presupposes the man was in a gang. He wasn’t. What a miscarriage of justice. These Nazi assholes need to get out of government.

This reads as if it was written by one of the constitutional scholars and the really better football coaches on Elmo’s hellsite who told us that wearing a mask in the subway was accshually (*) worse than Auschwitz.

The point of sending them El Salvador is to get them beyond the reach of US courts. If they are forced to bring one back, they have to bring all of them back, and they lose there quick way to disappear people. Disappearing people being the point.

Fascist Noem saying that a court order to return someone after an admitted "administrative error" is "unprecedented and indefensible". bsky.app/profile/jayw...

The order is "unprecedented" only because the *actions taken by the government* were unprecedented and indefensible. The order basically boils down to "You fucked this up, you did wrong, FIX IT." which is entirely fair.

Harvard researchers have found that tyrannies fall when 3.5% of the population protests peacefully. In the Philippines, 3.5% of the people protested peacefully for four straight days, and on the 4th day the Marcos government fell.

Perfect! So we just need 12 million people (give or take) to unite on a given day in a massive, and of course, peaceful and orderly, walkout/walkoff, however long it takes, (I like your estimate 4 days), until we can negotiate Impeachment and Reset? 🤷🏾‍♀️ Find Power in Unity

11 million is the magic number for the US. The April 5th protests were 5.2 million. The Republicans aren't opposing him because they are afraid of him. Cowards. At 11 million peaceful protesters, they become more afraid of us than they are of him. Then they impeach. Cowardice works both ways.

I am not a lawyer, have never studied law, but gotta ask: how can any lawyer take decisions like these with straight face? First they say "US admitted error" and follow by "he's still a terrorist and has no right to be brought back" Which is it? Can't be both

Technically? They're just storing those people in CECOT for the time being. In fact? I do not know. Every one of the deportees was entitled to due process they never received, and out of the vast number of deported, only about a dozen or so are confirmed to have been charged with any crime at all.

So I understand. But I meant, once a person is in a foreign jurisdiction, the country they left has no further sovereign power - it would have to rely on any contractual rights. contractual
