Given I dont live in Maine I dont have a dog in the fight but my biggest worry is that he turns out like Fetterman if he wins. Big ol bait and switch for anyone who wasnt paying close attention to news that got buried sorta situation.

People who view Nazis and Communism as both equally bad always confuse me. I'm not saying it's wrong to have criticisms of Communism, but it's really not difficult to recognize that Communism is not fascist.

People like to say communism in Russia had a greater death toll than the holocaust. And it wouldn't surprise me. But never consider it could be more on the shoulders of stalin and other leaders in particular. And they absolutely refuse to seriously consider the death toll of capitalism.

Depends what you consider "the Holocaust" If we're talking just the Shoah, it's a very apples to oranges comparison but probably technically true? If we're talking "all civilian groups directly genocided by Nazis", they killed more *just in the Soviet Union*. The full numbers aren't even close

and those same dudes always include the dead nazis from ww2 that russia mowed down as a part of their "deaths from communism" I'm not even joking. but yeah if you just counted "preventable medical deaths caused by capitalism being a barrier to care" in the usa you'd outweigh damn near anything.

The rape of africa and conquest of India/pacific during imperialism and the legacy of poverty/starvation/exploitation in its wake has probably dwarfed everything the nazis or Russians have done by orders of magnitude. Let alone the US's continual destabilization campaigns/exploitation of its own

The Fetterman comparison doesn't make sense to me, there's no reason surface-level stuff like "this is a white manly man" would inevitably mean somebody's going to be a sellout. There's a chance he turns out to be a weirdo but it'd be a bespoke sui generis weirdo like how Fetterman isn't Ro Khanna

's why it's all haunted and Stephen King-y and such. The ghosts are pissed from making minimum wage and getting overworked at Cumby's and Hannafords and a call center. Maine is spooky because ghosts haunt their landlords who charged them way too much. because it's Maine and that's the lifestyle lol

i don’t like the r slur but at this point we’re at in politics this probably would make independents in maine like him more as stupid as that is, because he “is honest” or whatever lol

pretty funny how janet mills gets in the race because graham platner was doing TOO well and all this tepid boring nothing burger oppo research comes out like 2 days later, establishment dems are really scared of platner

It’s astounding that democrats would rather sabotage opponents and democracy than lose power. All it’s doing is making people more and more radical against the entire establishment. Kind of love that tho…

You don't understand what their actual power base is and where it comes from. Losing elections is not a threat to Democrat power. Winning elections with actual progressives very, very much is

I heard her speaking with Heather Cox Richardson. I’m thinking she is strong because she stood up to the Pedophile President but, something just didn’t sound right…sounded like an entrenched Dem. Not from Maine, so, just an observation.

They know Zohran can’t run for president in a couple years. They think they can play Mamdani off and minimize him but with other candidates taking the same approach the establishment people are really fucking worried.

thats totally fair but the average american loves veterans, veterans are like the most popular group of americans out there. i would prefer if he didn’t do these insanely stupid things but sadly most people especially in maine love that shit for some reason

Platner is not perfect of course — but imagine a democratic congress made up if people like him. Just outsiders who are regular people, who have like paid bills on their own in the last decade and aren’t 1000000 years old. If you view Platner as a step toward that, then you aren’t co-signing/1

Platner’s every belief (co-sign communism, don’t co-sign Blackwater) but instead you are moving toward a congress that **on a whole** is more representative, is not literally dying in office and has lived a life closer to the average Americans and will vote on things that would have helped them.

A 41 y/o likeable, well spoken candidate emerging?! We can’t be LIKEABLE! Quick. Put that 77-year-old who writes stern letters and listens to focus groups up against him… & put all the dem fundraising power behind her. Dems are the wet blanket party.

This is performative canceling, getting resurfaced deleted tweets using the c word and calling cops rascist gets treated the same as calling for the genocide of every nonwhite noncishet person on the planet on live TV
