I think all of us born between like 1975 and 1985 need a support group for the fact that living through a rolling apocalypse, living with long covid, and starting menopause apparently all have the same symptoms.

I was already fucked with "I have at least three chronic medical conditions that cause fatigue" before the world got this exhausting. Plus peri. Starting transition helped treat one of the chronics, though! ... though of course now I'm medically trans in 2026. Sign me up for the support group.

Ooh, as a ‘77 baby, I’m in. My perimenopause has been made extra fun by the addition of a daughter just entering puberty. The hormones over here sure are… doing whatever the hell this is.

I had COVID for the first time in 2022. Had Long COVID for a year without realizing. (I was still functional enough to go to work... just barely.) The 2023 booster made a huge difference. But... yeah. It's so hard to tell what's still post-COVID stuff and what's "I'm a woman in my mid-40s" stuff.

No menopause here as I don’t have the equipment, but I feel this. Been playing a game of “is this a heart attack, anxiety attack, long covid, or just a natural reaction to everything” all year myself.

WHAT??? Doctorless, I've been trying to figure out what on earth I'm allergic to that's doing that since, yes, perimenopause. (Bad news: it doesn't end once actual menopause hits, assuming that's the cause in my case.)

Yep, thought it was my allergies upping the ante, but no! I can also smell an open bag of tortilla chips from anywhere in the house now.

it's not eczema! The issue is that as your estrogen levels drop, it dries out skin, esp. thin skin in places like your ears, so they itch. Mine drive me absolutely bonkers but there's a spray supposedly that helps, available OTC. Eosera ear itch md. I bought it and promptly lost the bottle.

I think I started out with normal hormonal itchy ears, but it turned into eczema. Thankfully allergy meds and lots of moisturizer helps. 😭

I took a survey recently for people who have not ever had Covid and it became clear pretty fast that a person with a heart condition and in menopause was gonna mess with the results. Why yes I do have all these symptoms but not because of long covid

I don't understand the brain fog. Like I did silly stuff when I was pregnant but not like locking my keys in the car multiple times or forgetting the water (?) in the rice cooker

And ä bunch of us had late-in-life kids and are both going through perimenopause and covid at the same time we were dealing with postpartum recovery which is harder on older mothers.

I recently had an ear infection and got antibiotic and anti-fungal drops. I’ve had itchy ear canals since my late 20s (41 now) and they’re just…better? ENT told me to rinse occasionally with 1:1 vinegar and isopropyl (or 1:1:1 w water) to keep the microbiome neutral and so far so good. Worth a shot!

*Hypothyroidism clears its throat* Significant overlap there too, esp with the weird sensitivity to temperatures, complete brain melt, and messing with your cycle. I started levo and got an IUS fitted within a couple of weeks of each other on then-nurse's advice and I must send her a thankyou card.

yeah, I've been on levo for a decade so I am probably underestimating that, but I feel like at least I was fortunate enough to get my levels pretty well dialed in before ALL OF THIS HAPPENED

Mine's pretty stable these days but keels over a bit more roughly every 18-24 months. It's still the first thing my GP checks whenever I go in with something new, just in case I've missed something obvious given the slooooowness of brain it causes me.

Definitely feels like a "sibling group" situation, imho. Having siblings close enough in age to be kids together sort of just extends your generational range towards whoever had more friends. Although that could just be me. 😅

I learned that menopause may be the reason that I sometimes lose words momentarily. I thought it was premature dementia. Many thanks to the medical establishment for only studying aging in men!

i keep doing the thing where I'll mix up parts of two words, so instead of "I need to feed the dogs and pick up my drugs" i'll say "I need to feed the drogs and pick up my dugs" or "It's my placking parcard" or...etc.

I forgot my own phone number once. I've had the same phone number for over 20 years at this point, it's our default for grocery store points, and I was standing there staring at the keypad going "uh...shit what do I enter here" at checkout

You can roll some types of cancer in there for funsies too! What I thought were perimenopause symptoms were symptoms of endometrial cancer. Now? Who knows what's wrong! Am I sick or just postmenopausal? 😛
