Post

Jeff Bezos’s wealth has increased an average of $70 million every day of 2026, meaning that he could have offset The Post’s losses with what he’s made since Monday.

I feel like it's crazy people pointed out that Bezos _could_ save the Post. He clearly has no desire to and has never shown any desire. His whole business history is one of skirting rules, acquiring power and ruining competitors. He's in it for the influence not the principle.

And Americans just keep funding the Trump funding beast, clicking BUY NOW like kids in a candy store. Because "free" shipping? No. Because selfish consuming zombies gonna consume.

He has no interest in selling it. He’s just constantly looking for ways to kiss 💩4️⃣🧠 a*s, and the destruction of a storied publication that used to say mean things about 👺 gets Bezos a few points in the Race of the Oligarchs to be #1️⃣

Bezos is purposely killing the WaPo to try to get into Trump’s good graces; he wants to take the role of “quirky billionaire sidekick” that Elmo vacated. Trump will never forgive him for a decade of bad WaPo press.

You do realize that being chairman of the board, he's restricted to very limited trading windows... Aww who am I kidding? His superyacht cost more than that. And after thirty years of diversification, he could raise the funds without selling a share of Amazon.

It must be gut wrenching for everyone who works, and has worked at the Post, knowing that none of the cuts that Bezos has made are necessary. And that he’s willing to destroy one of America’s greatest media companies.

Rich whyte guys don't give a fuck about society or other people in general. ALL they care about is Money/Power/Prestige and evidently based on the Epstein files, sexually abusing children. I guess when you got it all, it's hard to appreciate the simple & pure things in life. Love/Empathy/Kindness

B O Y C O T T! People are not shutting him down! He’s the nastiest! Worse than Target, Walmart, ABC and yet America, he’s still feeding!

He seems to be doing this intentionally - taking down the 4th estate. His actions today are counter to his intentions he voiced when he bought the WashPost. And he succeeded until ‘recently’… ironic he doesn’t seem to mind losing money on the Melania movie, but not on a major enterprise.

Making money on the paper was never the intention. Capture and destroy was always the intent. And of course, kissing the Orange Felon’s ass along the way.!

The Post should not have been sold to JB anyway. Blame the people who sold it to him. They should have known what he was about, and it wasn't journalism. Of course, money talks. The Post is (was) more than a newspaper, it was an American institution that held power to account.

If you stacked his cash in single dollar bills it'd rise the height of Mount Everest every day. It's too easy to write $70m without realising the scale of numbers. #TaxTheRich #TaxWealth

A US dollar bill is about 0.11 mm thick (≈ 0.0043 inches). Growth per day 70,000,000 bills × 0.11 mm= 7,700,000 mm per day That’s: 7,700 metres 7.7 km ≈ 4.8 miles

Imagine if he were a true humanitarian instead of a greedy asshat. We would have the best healthcare in the world

Bezos is not trying to save the Post. He’s following Trump’s order to destroy it. See Twitter, CBS, the Kennedy Center. Silly wannabee dictators, there are few barriers to entry to start a media channel and there are about a bazillion more already.

Bezos bought WaPo because he could & he thought it might earn him some prestige Now it becomes an albatross People keep expecting superior "Journalism" from WaPo & he isn't up to the job Over 40 years of tax cuts, tax incentives, & subsidies for the wealthy & we get a fit of pique from a billionaire

Yes, there is, apparently, little end of Resources to draw upon. However, in the case of the Washington Post, it would take Character to use some to keep his share of the Fourth Estate in full operative mode.

You know I outdoor make fun and ridicule Bezos but basically these billionaires are in American and only pro self.

It's a tax write-off, just like making Melania's movie. He knows his deliberately destroying the Post will make Donald just as happy.

Jeff Bezos knows exactly what he is doing by destroying the Washington Post. He is a collaborator with the Trump regime and wants to destroy another check and balance on Trump. The super wealthy have a long history of supporting fascism.

Uhhhhh… DC is rotten with those on the Epstein list.. cant have local news snooping around wondering why law offices are still employing those that contacted Epstein about how the insides of a 12 year old taste

Bezos has sold his soul. I'm going back to less convenient, but democracy-supporting individual vendors. Amazon is monopolizing online sales, and this won't be good in the long run.

I really liked WAPO and just cancelled my subscription today (I know, much too late). But the editorial board has become real trash. Up until yesterday, news reporting was good but it is time to let it go and build something else.

WaPo’s on life support. He needs to either pull the plug or sell it to someone who knows how to run an honest newspaper. Were I a WaPo employee I would bail. And sooner than later.
