It would appear.. that unless there is a massive “No KINGS Day” protest , this totalitarian dictatorship will continue unimpressed and undeterred in its overthrow of this democracy! The time for peaceful protests is reaching its climax! Dictator don has a well funded private army (ice) prepare

The time for peaceful protests is over. They clearly aren’t effective. It’s time to raise some hell and make some messes. These people are only bothered by money and disruption, and police coordinated parades do not count as disruption.

Yes, the most useless thing that's a constant historical failure and just so happens to have been framed as useful and the only option by authoritarians as propaganda after the failure of the civil rights movement is clearly the only effective way.

An immigrant in a removal or asylum case cannot be treated like a criminal defendant without being actually charged under criminal law & cannot be denied criminal due process rights. The federal gvmnt never had a right to enslave anyone, only the states & so the fed can't police the states to slave

The days of “they can’t” and “it’s illegal” are over. This administration no longer recognizes those terms. The problem here is that the tiny bit of resisters do.

The days of "they can't" and "it's illegal" are only over if we stop bringing it to everyone's attention to understand stand it. If we stop talking about it we are allowing thier brainwashing propaganda to consume everything like it has with legacy media.

Talking isn’t enough. If it were, we wouldn’t be in this mess. It’s time to make demands and back them up with tangible actions. (Parades are not effective tangible actions)

Fuck you. These assholes will not leave quietly. They know that as soon as they are out of power they will be held accountable for the criminal malfeasance and abuse of that power. There will be violence before this ends.

I don't know about that, I mean we bombed the ever-loving fuck out of the original Nazis and it seemed to really change Germany's trajectory for the next 80 years...

This is going to get bloody sooner or later and it needs to. Because it's time to push back or get pushed under. You don't want to live under these people. You hang fascists. Try something else like prison, they'll come right back...

Whole lotta people here in these responses eager to call for violent revolution from the comfort of keyboards. Y'all won't show for a peaceful protest and want me to believe you'll be there for a bloody one? You are not serious people.

That is in no way the only answer. That’s so not the only answer that it isn’t even an answer on its own. No peaceful movement succeeds without a contemporary non-peaceful movement happening alongside it. As all of history is proven. The study these folks always cite is seriously flawed.

Forgive my persistence… tell me to fk off! Water off a Duck’s back tbh! A contemporary non-peaceful movement… isn’t that usually younger, less informed and enthusiastically willing humans… perhaps “indoctrinated” by older revolutionary figures (who I add, tend not to get mowed down by authorities)?

Disagree. Violence is what he wants to provoke so he can bring martial law or similar. That a pathway to his canceling elections, etc. We need massive peaceful popular protests that convince the gop further support for trump means they are out of power. Then his support erodes

You're playing right in to trump's hand if you don't stay peaceful. That's exactly what he wants. He wants to call a national emergency to call in the troops, cancel elections, martial law, the whole 9 yds. If you think that's where we are, you've not seen nothing yet

martial.lawmartial.law

how many times have peaceful protests in america actually worked? no, you don't get to claim the civil rights movement, because the other half of it was armed. women's suffrage beat the shit out of people. striking miners fought and died for better conditions. slavery ended because of a war.

yes, peaceful protests are notoriously good at ejecting authoritarian, fascist governments from power. really cool how germans just kept protesting nonviolently until the nazis ceded power back to democratic forces.

Has to be peaceful though! Reducing ourselves to base actions & violence only fuels “their” agendas & aims… Only successful change can come about from unified action on a MASS level of commitment & compromise/sacrifice in the short-term by the disaffected populace… We change nothing by Skeeting👇

I disagree with your assertion that; “people who have been telling me …” We don’t have to agree on Jack! That you’re an invested and evidently active opposer of the current US administration… gives me the knowledge I need 🤜🤛 I’m in my 6th decade of existence… people tend not to “tell” me.. I read

When has this worked in history? And eveb if you manage to find an example I've got hundred more where it took direct physical action to remove an authoritarian govt. These sorts of people don't go away willingly.

I'm just waiting for more people to come to this realization because this administration is not going to step down over protests. You can't tell someone who is abusing you to stop and that you're not happy and expect them to listen and change.

Even an intermediate step like non-compliance would be great. If folks walked off their jobs en masse it'd force people in power to listen, if folks showed up and blocked ICE from doing their work, etc.

Agreed. People are too worried about what "could" happen to them in the short-term versus long-term. Yeah, you may lose your job in the short term but in the long term we won't have fascism. To me, that's worth it. Plus, if we end up like WWII they won't have a job anyways cuz we'll be in a war.

It’s a damn shame you can’t buy GROCERIES without going to a store that “supports it” for the overwhelming majority of the nation. Kinda seems like this plan is flawed.

Really? When has that worked? I suppose you could wrap in the Solidarity era in eastern europe, but that was a response to 75 years of authoritarianism, not "creeping." I'd suggest winning an election would suffice for now. Let's hold off on the economy-destroying mass strikes for a hot second.

This has to be sustained protest over many days, weeks and months. You’re not going to have an impact by doing it every few months. Unfortunately, now many are just trying to survive in a bad economy so who can sacrifice that kind of time?

It takes years to plan the type of mutual aid needed to support workers during an effective general strike. Who is doing that? Are democrats using their power and platform to do this? (No) Are random tiny groups doing no planning but calling for one on the internet? Yes.

fucking liberal reformers think vigils and vibes are gonna do shit... this permissive attitude is what got you in this mess, you think having a goddamned block party is gonna force regime change? what planet do you live on?
