I need to address this immediately, because I am WAY too Minnesotan to ever claim credit for this. I built a thing to point the fire hose of people's generosity in the right direction. That's it. I am thankful for the piece, because hopefully it means people will donate more money.

Thanks for stepping up and devoting hours to figuring it out! Even during this season of heartache, these examples go a long way in building hope and determination for all of us who are affected. Accept a small victory lap, please 💙

But being able to point a fire hose, a thing that takes (as someone who's literally held a fire hose at full force) a lot of strength, especially if you're the first to grab it. Others could've done it. But you're the one who did. And so many people have been helped because of it.

You've done an incredible thing. Think of all of the people who have been helped b/c you decided to just do the thing! And all of the other people who were inspired to just do other things! When your grandkids ask about your role in the resistance, boy do you have a story. You're allowed to be proud

It's okay 👍 to be amazing. Just like the orchestra conductor getting musicians to come together and make beautiful music, you have helped 1,000's come together to help those in the most need. Much respect. Much thanks.

Doesn't take away from the fact that you did a thing, and that thing has helped thousands of people. You can be proud of that. Also, you're a pretty awesome person for doing the thing to begin with.

"2.4 million hits and helped raise almost $20m" 12¢ per hit is an unbelievable conversion rate, and even if that overstates the actual number still shows just how much people want to help thanks again for helping them to do good. might be the best job ever!

My worst nightmare is that anyone ever think I organize to get famous or enrich myself. I do it because I had a hard life, I got some space to breathe, and I want things to be easier for everyone. I talked about this because I want other people to see that they can just do something.

We got you Ashley. You did something from your heart and helped thousands of people in your wake, and are getting recognized for that selfless act. Now take all that light and again point it at the people that need it most - like the families in the Dilley Detention Center.

It always saddens me when people feel that the only reason someone does a good thing is for selfish reasons. So many people are inherently good and just want to help, like you said. Good for you!!

A lot of that is pre-emptive rationalization for their own selfishness and stinginess. (The other portion is going to be haters who don't believe it, but will spread it anyway as some type of "discrediting conspiracy.")

lol. my two best friends are electeds and I couldn't ever do it because I am very bad at keeping my mouth shut or being around people I disagree with. I don't have the patience!

We need one of you in every village, town and city on the planet. A shame that everyone with money decided cloning is evil and slung it at suicidal teslas that like to ram school buses, horny siri and elon musks ms paint knock off for wealthy pedophiles instead.

It was amazing to watch your efforts unfold as you responded to the shifting landscape in front of you. You created a way for people to connect and it is SO beautiful.

Lex McMenamin at The Guardian did well to end their story with your words: ““the answer is actually just helping each other, knowing each other, depending on each other.”
