In 1972, a group of Harlem Renaissance cultural icons gathered at Duke Ellington's house.
The afternoon was captured on 16mm film by William Greaves, but the footage remained unedited in a vault for 50 years until David Greaves restored his father's project, releasing the documentary it 2026.
I have been praying for this kind of pushback from Democrats against Elon Musk for a long time now and I am thrilled that the Talarico camp is leaning into it.
Light. Him. Up.
NEW AD: Have you seen these anti-Talarico attack ads?
Elon Musk paid for nearly all of them.
The world's first trillionaire knows if he drags the most corrupt politician in Texas across the finish line, Ken Paxton will owe him everything.
Elon Musk: Texas is not for sale.
It's going to take years to clean up the mess left by the Doug Ford gang.
970,000 acres of lost farmland will never be recovered.
But, if the RCMP actually do carry out an *irreproachable* investigation of the Greenbelt scandal, we *may* recover rule of law in the province.

Thanks for this coverage. People are working tirelessly and protesting to defend life saving infrastructure. All while authorities try to stop and arrest them. usa.streetsblog.org/2026/10/21/p...
I know no one gives a F about safety or the law when the province is involved - but those workers & police should be wearing PPE for this work.
Did they cover the catchbasins?
Did they warn residents to close windows?
The city would never get away with this.

TPS is going to have one hell of a WSIAT file for respiratory issues. At least we slowed them down tonight. It ain’t over till it’s over. And it‘s never over.
Goes to show we can just build fast and do whatever the fuck we want if we really wanted to without years of environmental assessment, studies, and consultation.
Imagine if we put the same energy into housing, high speed rail, renewable energy, etc,

Gil, as a founder of 8-80 cities this is extremely dissapointing. You're supporting a candidate who voted to cut TTC service, raise fares, & has committed to remove bike lanes.
Do you truly support building a city where 8 year olds & 80 year olds can thrive if they have poor transportation options?
Why I am supporting BRADFORD for MAYOR of Toronto.
Because Bradford listens. Evaluates new information, and if necessary, he changes opinion. Which is what good mayors must do.
Chow? Not much done past 3 years. Future? No ideas. No bold projects. Wasted opportunity.
I want more police but don’t want to pay for it
I want better services and lower taxes
Sounds like the average Bradford voter

In 2025, a majority of S&P 500 CEOs made more in 1 day than the median US worker made the entire year.
Meanwhile, the median US worker would need to work 43,154 years to earn what Trump made in 2025 thanks to his crypto scams & various grifts.
When I say the system is broken, this is what I mean.
We are witnessing the disgraceful attempt by the United States to make Ukraine break so that Vladimir Putin can declare victory in his disastrous war.
Donald Trump is an open puppet of the Kremlin. The United States political, legal, military and media establishment are along for the ride.

Amid the Bloor West bike lane removals, it is important to remember that right-wing “bikelash” isn’t just an Ontario thing
Far-right parties in Spain, Sweden, Alberta, USA, etc. are removing/rejecting/defunding bike infrastructure as an attack urban residents and to prop up fossil fuel corporations
Doug Ford’s war on bike lanes isn’t about traffic—it’s part of a global right-wing backlash to vilify urban residents and defend fossil fuel interests.

The province knew that what they are doing is going to kill cyclists so they pre-emptively passed legislation in bill 212 that appears to prevent cyclists from suing for damages for accidents resulting from ripping out bike lanes. If you want an example of appalling, murderous cynicism…it’s Ford
awaii enacted a law that could neuter Citizens United.
Montana could soon follow suit via a ballot referendum.
Here's what you should know about the plans to get Big Money out of politics — and how they could be replicated where you live. www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1fP...
Before Citizens United, the top 15 political contributors spent just $15 million on the midterm election.
Now, the top 15 have spent $962 MILLION.
That's up 6,400%.
THIS is why our system is so rigged.
We really, really have to end Citizens United and tax the rich.
The U.S. Army paid General Dynamics millions for a factory that kept churning out botched artillery shells.
A former Army official called it an “absolute disaster” and said the Army “should’ve gone after recovering money from General Dynamics.”

Breaking News: Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration is making a $30 million investment to build a quantum research lab at New York University. In exchange, the city will receive 15% of any proceeds from intellectual property developed in that lab.

Figuring out why Ossoff is so effective is an interesting task.
I think he's mastering a kind of stern dignity that is uniquely compelling in contrast to the clownish cruelty of the other side.
I think the other person who's kind of hit on the same thing is AOC, though in a different register

A child in an Idaho faith-healing family died of a treatable condition.
Then another died — and another, and another.
Idaho’s child abuse laws contain such broad religious exemptions that authorities didn’t intervene — before or after the deaths.

New: Chris Rufo & his co-host devoted a podcast to "The Indian Question," framing Desi people as a problem to be solved.

My entire life I've heard centrists scolding leftist candidates with "oh, but how will we pay for all that? isn't your agenda unreasonable? shouldn't we run on a modest proposal for means-tested tax rebates?"
Then Mamdani gets elected and makes it all look pretty easy. No wonder they hate him.
