70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

'heated' tommy works as a staffer for josh hawley and is a christian nationalist this is how the contemporary far right operate. they ask a bad faith question in a public forum and then their billionaire owned legacy media outlets reframe the response given in the most disingenuous way imaginable

After heavy lobbying and huge donations from Big Tech, Trump killed a proposed Biden-era rule requiring AI companies to disclose their riskiest experiments to federal officials. Everything is for sale. This is worth a read: https://www.levernews.com/ai-regulation-was-coming-then-trump-killed-it/

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

For no reason, fun fact: Ed Sheeran played two cameos in The Rise of Skywalker (2019). One is a First Order stormtrooper, the other a Resistance fighter battling on Exegol. Both sides.

Just did a quick look around and I don't see very many headlines about the President of the US making people pledge allegiance to him personally while telling everyone to commit election fraud and "cheat like hell" to support his party. Seems like it should be a story?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Please right your right hand. I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States. That loves us so much he can't even breath. That I will go out with my family, my friends, I'll do it any way - I don't care if I'm registered or not, I'm going to try to cheat like hell..."

yall are gonna hear me say this a lot so here goes again: make plans to vote in person, and do it as early as possible. literally make turnout this election too big to steal.

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.

You gotta keep your head on a swivel playing #StarWarsZeroCompany since you never know when a critical lore drop is gonna sneak by in the background audio.

I almost missed grabbing the clip because I was stunned laughing at Ben Quadrinaros’ in-universe nickname. (Also the Bespin mission might be my favorite gaming moment so far this year)

The “head of strategic futures” at OpenAI just went on an unhinged rant against social security sometimes I feel like these tech companies are actively trying to alienate as many normal people as possible

So far I have had not made it past a single culling in the Duskbloods test, I don’t know where everyone is finding virtue so quickly but this has killed any interest I have in the game. But that’s totally okay I’ve never been a big souls fan, back to Splatoon Raiders for me.

"so then Neil Patrick Harris ripped off the Great Movie Ride, appeared as the Dreamfinder, and then Beck came out and performed 'Where It's At'"

Oh man I’ll get to real annoying recommending people watch Nirvana the Band the Show which is coming to Hulu this Friday (fingers crossed for the movie soon)

It’s worth noting that Taco Bell identified the source before the FDA did, and promptly pulled it from their stores. The FDA didn’t even name the source until Taylor Farms outed themselves, and hasn’t issued a recall. Basically, Taco Bell is now a more reliable authority than the FDA.

My takeaway from that speech is that we are headed down the road of Trump trying to outright rig elections. It probably won't work, but he's going for it.

Just got out of the Odyssey. What an awesome (as in I’m just truly awed by it) experience. And it made this literal classic resonant with me in a way it never has in the decades I’d read or seen it told before. Kinda wish I saw it in imax. But amazing experience, he’s done it again (no surprise).

Reminder: Memphis is still “under full-blown occupation” by ICE. Task force members have reportedly killed at least two people in four days.

He ruins everything he touches. The whole scandal took the joy out of rooting for team USA tonight. If he didn’t go to MSG the Knicks would’ve swept.

I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

Spending my morning writing a statement for press inquiries about all this when all I want to do is say "consumers haven't had purchasing power in about ten years now because we gave all of our money to like ten weird guys, what did you all expect"

This might be one of the most insane scandals in game history When Pokemon Go players scan PokeStops, theyve been unknowingly building a detailed visual model of the world which is being sold to a military contractor to build a no-GPS positioning for the new generation of unmanned killing machines
