the eternal gamedev curse of accidentally setting a value too high but then it's funny but then you know you'll have to change it back

It's maddening, because the curator system is actually really good when used properly. If you follow a curator their recommendations will start showing up on your homepage, and it's an excellent way to get some hand picked suggestions over algorithmic ones, but Valve lets it fester with bad actors.

i see why steam tries very very hard to hide the curator system from everyone because it gives a direct, horrifying look at the demographics actively using steam's community features

Hey folks, time for another indie #ShowCasey Are you an indie developer? Do you have an upcoming game? Reply here with a link to your game and a quick elevator pitch, and let's get some eyeballs for you! There's only one rule: strictly no generative AI. Dexter awaits your games.

PSA that the London west end My Neighbour Totoro run is ending in January. Go see it! It's really special! I tear up whenever I think about it! I will never forget it!

You take a game trying so hard in its era to havr an art style and feel realistic or cutting edge and reduce it to looking like a lego playset.

Gonna be fr I feel like the act of running old 3D console games at higher resolutions, whether it be in emulation, but specially on recomps, always makes them look so much cheaper

i actually think the problem is full V.O., for many many different reasons. it not only balloons production scope, but it also frequently grinds narrative pacing to a halt. especially for dialogue heavy games! if they're this skippable; many of these cutscenes could have and should have been emails.

okay i'm sorry but the 1.5x speed watching brainrot has gone too far if we're now doing playback speed for video game dialogue

We all have that one buddy whose purpose was unclear but was likely used in rituals related to harvests and fertility

20+ notifications? Must be the biweekly "zero gen ai starter pack" re-share. 😊 I find it so reassuring to see how everyone continues to value AI-free work. Hello new followers! here is my latest rat

Today's Metal Garden update adds two new features that I've been pretty excited for! >> Developer Commentary Mode - Read through various recollections from Metal Garden's development >> Save Points - manually save your game at several locations in each chapter

Sam Neill should have won an Oscar for this “help I’m being attacked by an invisible Chevy Chase” scene with a stupid looking plastic gun taped to the side of his head

I really, really, really hope that something we can encourage with our library. I want a general audience to be able to tell better histories than summarizing Wikipedia and remembering a game at you

I keep clicking on video game retrospective videos thinking I'll learn something new about the development of a beloved classic but no, it's just some guy describing a game they played once I desire something greater. Tell me what coffee the devs drank. I wanna know if they used tabs or spaces

I hadn't heard about this at all, absolutely gutted for the people laid off. The work put into paizo products has been stellar since I started reading post 2e.

My heart is hurting for all the Paizo employees impacted by this and a hearty middle finger to JP Morgan Chase and Diamond's continuing devastation on the printed medium's future. So many comic, game, and TTRPG companies were hit by this. paizo.com/blog/paizo-r...

I don't know what everyone's complaining about. Just go to settings > features > worms, then change the "worms pouring out of my phone" toggle from "yes" to "maybe later"

Finally got around to setting up an rss reader (Feeder), can't believe I didn't have one for so long. Easy to get newsletters in there also. Any good suggestions for #gamedev stuff? I have some discovery blogs but p much only melodicambient for the actual craft
