The other day I drove a friend back from the airport and the whole way we talked about how impossible it is to be a woman with ADHD while also managing...everything. About halfway home we realized there was a pumpkin sitting on my windshield.

there are multitudes of insurance and annuity products sold to middle class with the primary purpose of "covering your final years of healthcare." if we pass something like medicare for all, you will have SO MANY PEOPLE that will close/cancel/divest and use that money for SO MUCH.

we're talking tons of vacations, business startup funds, getting that house renovated or that granny flat built, paying off kids/grandchildren student debt, etc. the medical insurance sector has so much wealth locked up to pay the racket of end-of-life medical costs. we can free that up!

got pulled into a call with someone talking about annuities by insurance companies. I honestly do not know what happens to those "investments" when the insurance company becomes insolvent due to climate disruption.

Scams and illegal products I've seen and reported to Facebook include: * Fake train tickets * Bogus airport luggage auctions * Spyware advertised as a stalking tool * Cloned credit cards * Drugs Not a single one was removed

it also captures the MBA-brainrotted corporate culture not even going to your coworkers to collaborate and improve your skills, but instead steal ideas from them without credit in the spirit of cutthroat capitalism.

b-rated movie about some megachurch stealing the shroud in order to harvest yeast to bake a human-shaped sourdough messiah but it turns out the shroud wasn't his but was used by a saint in 1200s to smother a demon impersonating Jesus and they accidentally resurrected that.

keep coming back to this thought. seriously it would kneecap so many bad actors and dilute power. for perspective, 100m is a single high-rise tower in a major city center or ~20-30 blocks of houses in a well-off suburb. it's still a fucking lot, but not global-damaging-level of dick wagging.

Ammy@ammy.bsky.social

there's some two or three thousand families who own the majority of assets tucked away through dozens of tax loopholes inside corporate books & trusts. wealth taxing them down to a 100m-per-person cap that follows inflation would do untold wonders to the global political system.

make sure to vote so we make this number as close to below zero as possible.

a reminder that the number of gop congress & senators that could flip and remove this madman and "tone down" the regime can literally fit snugly inside a single bathroom.

glad the #science is showing this kind of thing is working wonders. there are so many opportunities to improve our ecosystem; some of them help our urban environments as well.
