Help a Lego lover out. I’ve seen those sets a few times and they’re amazing

Star Simpson@starstar.bsky.social

Alright-I’m at the point where I have to share this. I’m trying to pull of a special mission. I’m trying to buy the biggest LEGOs ever. But I might need help from the network to pull this off.

What you're seeing here is the equivalent of about 780 TWh of primary energy being saved without the global car fleet shrinking a single unit in the next 10 years. It's my best guess at what the distribution of global cars on the road will look like going forward.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

I don't understand the new Accident of Birth remaster. The whole point of Bruce Dickinson is his singing voice... and this album makes it sound processed, distant and weak. Why? Makes no sense to me.

Making chestnut gelato. The recipe was very minimalist but the liquid had an interesting flavor. Possibly might need something as a companion though.

Apologies for the US politics but this was too delicious for me to ignore

These paleolithic bison are 15,000 years old, but look as fresh, vibrant & as realistic as if they were modelled yesterday. They were crafted in clay in a cave in Tuc d’Audoubert 🇫🇷 with some form of spatula (probably wooden) and hands and fingers. Remarkable things.

Reading a book: usually a good idea. Reading a horror novel: usually also a good idea. Reading a horror novel from an author sho has scared me witless in the past, while the house is empty and quiet and it’s very dark outside: a bad idea.

Trump has been plotting with Putin for a MONTH to give him billions of dollars. And keeping it secret from Europe and Ukraine. While his son in law has been pretending to negotiate with Ukraine.

The first Russian diesel shipment is reaching the US East Coast barely 24 hours post announcement, indicating the pact preceded its public reveal as the tanker Minerva Zen departed St. Petersburg back on September 22.

Fixing my summer bikes before they go away for the winter. I recently set up a small space in the shed for bike maintenance. It’s really great to have a work desk and a small stool instead of sitting on concrete 😅

I find it puzzling that there don’t seem to be any reviews of Burley’s trailer dry bag. Not on the web or in Youtube. I understand there are cheaper options but you’d think someone bought it and reviewed it.

Found an Electro 35 in my late uncle's camera stash. Getting it back to shape costs 20 euros for the battery adapter and new light seals. Let's see how it goes when the parts arrive in a week.

When it rains, it pours. I got two versions of Carriere’s Mahabharata adaptation on the same day 😋

Talk is cheap but I fear Sweden and Finland will demand heavy hockey concessions to make the deal happen

Dear @mark-carney.bsky.social, we want to bring the relationship with Canada to the highest level possible. I would like to work with you on opening the door for Canada to being the first associate member of the EU. And create a common prosperity and economic security space.

Finally someone says the sensible thing out loud. It’s been a total mystery how the sports argument has had any life to it. (Sportsing shouldn’t really be about competition, and even when it is, who gives a toss about some county championships.)

Alright so the Houthis might have blown up the Saudi East-West pipeline. That would really blow up the oil prices. I did the math and it seems you can charge up an electric car by pedaling a generator bike for a bit over a month non-stop 🫡

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

I’ve now thought about this and find that even if OpenAI did nothing wrong, they still acted like jerks. I’ve seen plays and movies with villains like these. Dolly Parton’s Jolene arguably too. (I was that ass in high school when I cut in line to get the last chocolate mousse dessert.)

Millennium math problem solved by OpenAI may have "regurgitated" competitors unpublished work... also they spent more than $22 million in computing power in one week to scoop them. techcrunch.com/2026/09/08/o...

There is no benefit to society in rushing to be first. Buckmaster would’ve probably got there in a month. Instead OpenAI burned a small fortune to make sure he didn’t get the million dollar prize.

But then again Bubeck’s response suggests they didn’t know about Buckmaster’s role, only Anthropic’s. bsky.app/profile/timk...

mr. TIM@timkellogg.me

Sebastien Bubeck responds to allegations specifically, i think this greatly clarifies the, “why would you ruin your career over this?” quote that Buckmaster used. That part never made sense to me.

Every now and then I see weird-ass takes about US media. As a foreigner they feel like barking up the wrong tree. I don’t want to see nasty headlines about the US President. I want to see him in jail.

Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social

Genuinely I cannot take it. The way the press has ONE STANDARD for everyone but Trump and his goons and then A TOTALLY DIFFERENT STANDARD for them. It’s intolerable, it’s obscene
