Ultimately, if you only have time to know one thing about all of this, just know that not a single solitary tech oligarch, tech company, or tech-backed politician has a single solitary serious commitment to the existence of Black political power or economic security in their plans for the future.

I had to come back to this. This man turned 10% of his own community over to ICE for around 20 thousand extra dollars and a dodge charger for work. He feels badly about it though😒

Imagine a world where people do things that haven’t been validated by a focus group. Imagine a world in which important men—even presidents—can’t separate people from their shared sense of what is right and necessary.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

It’s actually striking how consistently AI reproduces suffering and echoes of inequality. And that suffering is then repackaged in a way to solicit the sympathy of those who are suffering, in some cases, because of AI.

The rich amass billions in this enterprise and we are given NFTs in the form of pictures and videos. A “bread and circuses” that consumes the water we need to live.

These men create these powerful tools and claim they are remaking the world, but they are just copying the awful structures that secure their own status and power.

They want to be gods, but they are too cruel to create paradise. And they want us all to march into whatever facsimile of hell they are building. Even the “agents” are trapped in a loop of hustling for “survival.” They are mocking us.

Think about how little your representatives have said or done to defend their colleague Ilhan Omar. Now try to imagine how little they will do when it's our turn.

Saying that LLMs are somewhat similar to the way humans process language, and therefore they're just like us fr fr is very strange to me, because even if I grant you that an LLM is similar to my language processing machinery, that's not all my brain is.

I’ve seen Black people across social media platforms talking about picnics at lynchings and so many white people are in our mentions insisting that the last public execution was 1936 and that lynchings were “mob murder” not state sanctioned. So confidently loud and incredibly wrong.

The mayor of Saint-Denis, Bally Bagayoko, literally used himself as a human shield to protect students from police violence

A nation built on violence must socialize its citizenry to fantasize about violence through visions and dreams of overpowering and defeating “violent people.” The fantasy is one of socially acceptable dominance. This is a libidinal economy.

"Racism will die when the boomers do" was a comfortable lie they told/tell themselves in order to remove the amount of work required to defeat white supremacy at its core.

My momma told me to look in that backpack until I found some damn homework. And I did. I found it.

So many of these clowns were traumatized by their experiences with people who were not part of elite circles but were still able to run circles around them online. They associate “woke” with the loss of their prestige and Trumpism with its promised return.

Peter@notalawyer.bsky.social

this is David French talking about a phenomenon that was 99% internet pile-ons. It’s hard to take this seriously.

This ongoing discourse is upheld because Trumpism can’t give them back something they never had. They only ever had the illusion of superior intelligence. They were always only funny to their friends. It’s not the fault of wokeness that the illusion doesn’t work for them anymore.

Yes. People made fun of you online. And they enjoyed it precisely because of how easy it was to do. They read your thoughts and saw how mean and cruel you were and responded in kind. This is the risk taken when being condescending. What’s not clicking?

All that hemming and hawing they did about “not using our resources.” Whole time it’s just so they can use the resources to collaborate with the regime. Shit is so dark-sided I can barely stand it.

If you can find common ground with Jared kusher, but not zohran mamdani, you shouldn't be in democratic leadership

He’s credibly accused of defrauding the university and damaging its reputation. The university has a fiduciary responsibility to investigate.

Since Trump first came to power, intelligent people have been saying “Never Trump” was insufficient. There’s little hope for political candidates clinging to it now. You’re not made politically viable or even legible by opposing Trump. Join the line. At the back.

Alex Shephard@alexshephard.bsky.social

this is refreshingly direct about the bargain many Never Trumpers thought they were making, which is that they would simply take over the Democratic Party and that everyone else would shut up and be grateful www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

And obviously resistance to Trump needs to be more concrete and more forward looking because, if this country holds, he won’t be president again. Candidates need a plan that includes voters and fights against Trumpism, which is actually more corrosive than one old man.

On CNN, they are discussing the details of victory and when this war will potentially end. Beloved, these are sociopaths and they are having FUN. After the party it’s the AFTER PARTY.

Trump wore a white hat to Dover! Man’s isn’t even contemplating the death of military personnel. Trust me. Mr. in between golf games head ass ain’t thinking about ending nothing except the lives of our collective young.

This is one of the most profound essays I’ve read in years. You don’t need me to tell you that Hanif Abdurraqib is one of the finest writers of our time, but this essay in particular is a hard-won offering. Please read it and share with people you love.

Can’t stop thinking about all the people who’ve lost their jobs. Losing your job in this country, it’s like annihilation—not least because it usually means losing health care, too. And for so many people, their entire sector has been eviscerated. I wouldn’t be able to feed my kids. It’s terrifying.

The argument of recent hero movies seems to be that we should reject the villain because of his level of violence and not his ideas. The villains aren’t wrong. They just take it too far. And too far is determined by the level of threat to the systems we know to be harmful.

G. Willow Wilson@gwillow.me

Conversely, why have 'good guys' become so cringe, so unrelatable, so one-note? Bc 'good guys' are historically portrayed as rule-followers. Law-abiders. Both-sides-ers. For the last few decades, that means that the 'good guys' end up defending the same broken system *that produces the villains.*

“Thanos had a point” and “Killmonger was right” are admissions that we think our society should be changed but without any loss to ourselves. The villain speaks the truth. Merciless violence is written in to mute that truth.

Movies get the heroes wrong. But Marvel got it right one time. To undo the work of Thanos requires sacrifice. You will not return unscathed. Dr. Strange saw millions of timelines, and yet there was only one way. Most hero movies settle on the millions of other ways that dull our senses and morals.

An essential read. About fighting back against the system being imposed on us… Lots of important thoughts. Of the many, these ones stood out to me

There is no amount of genuflecting that will work here. This creature thrives on dominance and destruction. Squeals and applause arouse him equally. I understand the craven lack of will to fight, but try not to preemptively squeal.
