Has your representative said this yet? If not, contact them and demand it.

Rep. Diana DeGette@degette.house.gov

Donald Trump is openly threatening war crimes against the entirety of Iranian civilization. 25th Amendment proceedings must begin immediately, but if the Cabinet is too cowardly, the House should begin the impeachment process now.

I hate the too-cool-for-school attitude of dismissing this with a "but they won't." That is surrendering in advance. The pressure should be put on them, the message should be unrelenting that this is what must be done and they're the ones refusing to do it. Don't act like they don't have agency.

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

If only a dozen Republicans in Congress found the will, they could impeach and remove him today.

same Overton Window-shattering tactic he’s always used: Even if worst doesn’t happen tonight - rhetorically he’s opened up possibility of the unimaginable, making lesser (but still horrible) actions seem moderate by comparison… all increasing likelihood that one day the worst really will happen

The Trump people really seem to struggle with the idea of a global market.

Let’s be clear, most EBT users are white. The reason he’s specifically lying about “weaves” and we’ve seen so many AI fakes of Black women ranting about food stamps is they need to make BW the face EBT because they know many Americans don’t care if Black people suffer, and some actually wish for it.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

ROB SCHMITT: People are using SNAP benefits to get their nails done, to get their weaves and their hair. This is a really ugly program. SEN. RON JOHNSON: That program needs to be dramatically reformed.

Brian Espinosa reposted

Not being even vaguely sarcastic: At some point, a journalist needs to ask Johnson “you regularly claim you have no idea what your own government is doing. If we take you at your word, how are you so poorly informed, and do you this level of ignorance should disqualify you as speaker?”

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: What's your message to the 170 US citizens who have been detained by ICE? About 20 of them are children MIKE JOHNSON: I don't know what you're talking about with the children. I haven't seen that so I'm not going to comment on it.

I want to take this opportunity to connect some dots. This is not a mistake. This is on purpose. The right wing ethos hates government oversight. They try to take over government precisely so they can make it less effectual. We see this everywhere that has Republicans in charge.

Last I checked the GOP controls all branches of our government.

My first impression of Remix 3 is that it’s a bunch of new APIs to do what we already do. It doesn’t seem to unlock new capabilities. HTML fragments are cool, but you can already do that by returning RSC from server functions in React. Astro supports it too.

The mortgage fraud claim against Lisa Cook is false, per documents obtained by Reuters. Bill Pulte's accusation, the sole pretext Trump used to fire her from the Fed, was that she claimed two homes as primary residence. These docs show she did not. www.reuters.com/world/us/fed...

It’s also worth noting that as soon as it became clear the Trump shooter had no real legible politics and certainly not from “the left” he completely vanished into anonymity. No one knows his name.

In a world where exposing criminality is just a tool to be wielded for enemies, then an argument about Bill Clinton makes sense. In a world where wrongdoing should be exposed on all sides without fear or favor...bring it on. It makes for a better regime to live under.

It's notable that Kavanaugh's concurrence that is getting roundly derided is not only the compromise position but also emphasizes why opinions are important. The public deserves to know the court's reasoning because it's a source of legitimacy. Without that, it's just an exercise of raw power.

Leaving aside his contempt for taking domestic violence seriously, please remember that DHS has repeatedly argued that Kilmar Abrego Garcia was a dangerous menace to the nation because of allegations of domestic violence. Is it not a crime? Or is it a crime so serious it merit deportation?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump claims crime is down to "virtually nothing" in DC & adds the crimes that are happening are "much lesser things. Things that take place in the home they call crime. You know, they'll do anything they can to find something. If a man has a little fight w/the wife they say 'this is a crime. See?'"
