I've been arguing with people who advocate for boycotting the Democratic Party, withholding their votes, for a long time. Getting tired of it. I finally wrote up a long screed that I think really captures my side of the debate. So I'm posting and pinning it to save retyping in the future.

Mark Hall@bobapril.bsky.social

Okay, we've been batting this around quite awhile now, so I ask YOU, who at least seems willing to grant me the courtesy of assuming I'm NOT a neo-Nazi, to bear with me and assume we're actually going for the same goals, and that our difference is on tactics. This is gonna be a long one...strap in.

that just sounds like a coup with extra steps

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Blanche on CBS says his suit against Alaska is "asking the court to step in where the Alaska Supreme Court didn't, which is to look at federal law and if necessary to allow a process for Alaska to decide who should be certified as the winner." (So, the voters won't get to decide. Got it.)

From talking to door-knockers around the word, this is the average voter. This is the majority of all voters. From the alcoholic auto-mechanic to the famous brain surgeon, they all think like this about politics. A mix of incoherent strong opinions wrapped up in a refusal to research anything.

This! This is what people dissatisfied with Democratic leadership need to be doing. Finding, supporting, and promoting voices that actually have something to say. And doing so in the sure knowledge that they will face Democratic opposition. Know it. Prepare for it. Defeat it.

Matthew Sheffield@matthew.flux.community

There is hope for some of the newer voices in the Democratic Party like AOC and AES because they realize you have to actually stand for something to build a movement and draw people toward you. The old guard must all be overthrown. Their laziness and cowardliness can never defeat fascism.

🧵 Matt Yglesias is one of the biggest reasons the Democratic Party leadership is so feckless, cowardly, and lazy. I'm not exaggerating. Yglesias is often a featured speaker at private Democratic Party events, despite almost always being wrong. Let's discuss...

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

This post could have been made on Nov. 4th, with a call to action to push Democrats to step up their game and go after the Trump admin on every possible level. Instead, it was posted now - in the middle of early voting, in the heat of GOTV efforts. Hard to see that as accidental.

Wow, the exact sort of “liberals” Jessie is talking about are absolutely frothing at the mouth about this thread. Hit dogs hollering all over Bluesky today.

If you HAVE connected them, the rage is probably just an ongoing part of your life now. As it should be.

Kathleen Belew@kathleenbelew.bsky.social

If you aren't connecting Cornell, Acton's mother, the Shane Gillis monologue, and the household vote movement, the rage you encounter when discussing any of these might knock you down

The insanity of this is that Constitution is a legal document and was conceived of as such. Substituting the imagined interpretation of the 18th century “man on the street” is charlatanism, essentially jurisprudence by channeling or divination. You might as well consult a ouija board.

The easiest way to get a big scoop in journalism is to straight-up steal it from @marisakabas.bsky.social, as we've seen over and over from "respectable" outlets.

Josh Sternberg@joshsternberg.com

It's disheartening to see the largest publications in the nation not cite original reporting from independent/individual reporters. Not one mention of @marisakabas.bsky.social's work in ID'ing Tommy. Instead, the WSJ implies that Tommy came forward himself. Disingenuous, at best.

Furry community here in WA, we cannot allow I-638 to pass. This bill is the disgusting forced "genital exam" legislation. Say no to hate, NO to I-628. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_Wa...

Vote “no” on I-638 in #washington If passed, this bill would ban trans kids from playing sports and impose invasive genital inspections on girls Right now 56% of people in Washington support this ban, including 48% of democrats It seems likely to pass if we don’t act www.them.us/news/washing...

Even so often, I think about Steve Schives' video where he mentions the fact that Trek fans don't need to be reminded about how good Star Trek is And while I agree to disagree about his opinion on Lower Decks 99% of the time, he's deadass wrong on that one bc yes TF we did need that reminder🧵

Limited choices in my small town compared to the author's, but Cosmic Crisp is almost always available and consistently delicious. Honeycrisp is great around November but often "meh" in other seasons. And Envy, Fuji, or Gala are good enough when the others fail me.

I no longer think that the reason ACAB in the US is because of their roots in slave-catching. The embedded systemic and personal racism is unquestionable - but beneath even that, apparently the problem is that cops exist to protect capital, and are thus a class problem.

“JK Rowling hasn’t killed anyone so she can’t be supporting genocide.” You want to bet money on that one? This is like claiming that anti-abortion activists haven’t killed anyone. The policies JK Rowling has been responsible for pushing through have ABSOLUTELY killed trans people.
