I don't watch movies often anymore, especially in theaters. But I did go watch "You Can See Everything" tonight and it was just as fantastic as you would expect from Nathan Fielder! By the end I even got over the 22 fucking dollars I paid for the ticket (the reason I don't go to theaters anymore).

And it’s fixed! There is a place called Minn-Tech that repairs broken HomePods and as far as I can tell it is perfect again!

Sad day. I think my first-gen HomePod died! 😭

I saw a comment online awhile back describing the current economy as "movie theater pricing but for everything." I find myself remembering that comment after taking my daughter to a movie today. My first time in a theater since before covid I think. $32 for 1 adult and 1 kid ticket!!

Today's Low Quality Ad is for this Guillotine T-shirt. I know inflation has been rough lately. But it's important to understand that inflation doesn't affect everything. For example, while grocery costs have skyrocketed the price of guillotines has remained relatively stable. collabs.shop/c2zki8

Today is off to a great start! I had a nice morning with my daughter before I took her to school, then I sat down to start at work and found my PR had a review from the legendary @josevalim.bsky.social! It's such a privilege to work somewhere with a Dashbit dev subscription. ❤️

NEW: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been transforming a government that long championed vaccines into one that questions their safety. This is what could happen over the next 25 years if shots are unavailable even to the people who want them.

I keep seeing people ask about the 25th Amendment. Guys. His entire Cabinet is walking around in shoes that don’t fit because they’re scared to take them off. The 25th is never happening.

I made a PR at work that reduces the time our test suite takes to run by more than 50% consistently and it makes me unreasonably happy. 😊

Pam Bondi just sent a letter to Minnesota officials saying ICE will leave if the state turns over its voter database to Trump. Guess what? This has never been about safety or immigration. It’s a pretext for Trump to take over elections in swing states.

This is 10th-grader Arnoldo Bazan. A citizen. Immigration agents grabbed him and put him in a chokehold. "We're from the United States bro!' he screamed. Agents took and sold his phone And when he finally got home hours later, his shirt was ripped, he neck had angry, red welts, and he sobbed.

Read this story and decide if this is the America you want to live in. ICE saw a Latino man driving a car. Chased him down and rammed him. Just because he wasn’t white. He was just a guy - an American citizen - driving to the auto shop.

It’s fun setting up a new Linux machine and seeing the packages installing, recognizing things I used to contribute to. I miss those days.

If someone ever buys X, I hope they rename it to Twitter. Then every website or news broadcaster can start referring to it as Twitter (Formerly X (Formerly Twitter)).

I can’t believe I’m paying money to live in this horrible Airbnb. This person should be banned from the platform. Only 21 more days before I get to write this person a review.

I'm disappointed by Airbnb's policy that prevents you from cursing in reviews of places you stay. I would like to provide the most accurate review I can of the place I'm staying for the month of August. I feel like a few F-bombs would go a long way towards making that happen.

In 1960s Vienna the socialist city government decided—against vehement protests of the conservatives—to spend a lot of money on a major civil engineering flood protection project. In 2013, the Danube reached a 500-year flood in Vienna. Nothing was destroyed and no one got seriously hurt.

The Trump admin in a nutshell; in order to justify their own mistake, they’re going to release a violent felon with five deportations so he can testify against the guy with no criminal record they mistakenly deported. In other words, the story is always more important than the principle.

The Trump admin has freed Jose Hernandez Reyes because he can testify against Abrego Garcia. Hernandez, who has been deported 5 times, has also been arrested for: —DUI w/ a handgun; —cocaine possession; —illegally transporting migrants; and —drunkenly firing a gun. Free link: wapo.st/40i4Ttt

I hate how everything I want to read these days is behind a paywall. I understand newspapers, but now more personal and blog type posts are all on Medium or Substack. Even posts about wealth inequality are only accessible to those who can and will pay. Slightly ironic.
