The whole idea of the tech establishment as this secrecy-shrouded cult of knowledge where the rank and file are mere functionaries operating devices they don't understand via rote exalted as ritual while only the elite actually know their shit, when the reality has proven to be the exact opposite!

I am reminded again how in 1935, the US Congress passed a tax law that created a new top tax bracket of nearly 80%. That tax bracket contained exactly one person, John D. Rockefeller, and was designed to stop him from causing so much trouble. In case anyone needs the precedent.

Just got all my boys together to take on the wandering ronin who came to town. There’s like 15 of us and only one of him so pretty much the only thing that would give me any pause is if he was master of the devastating and lightning-fast iaidō style. But that’s not likely. The trouble with Russell and a lot of other filmmakers (Boorman, Bakshi, Lee, mid and late period Coppola, etc come to mind) who willfully combine deadly seriousness and defiant ridiculousness is that we're only used to understanding such a combination as quotation marks, lapses of taste, or both
