Europe 🇪🇺 - Canada 🇨🇦 summit on 29-30 October. One topic is to build US-Bypassing Subsea Cables: build secure, direct subsea telecommunication cables connecting Europe, Canada, and Asia, intentionally diverting critical digital traffic away from US networks.

After the hottest and driest summer on record, environment is not a big issue… Because no political party is taking the issue seriously.

I was having conversations with journalists just a few months ago about whether democracy was doomed. Look at this year: Orban defeated. Vukic defeated. Bolsonaro Jr defeated. Trump heading to likely defeat in midterms. That’s the beauty of democracy. Voters can respond. Don’t count it out yet.

Was this on BBC News LIVE as the Farage comments?

Leaving aside whether £ could ever usefully meet € convergence (and do go spend some time in the archives for extensive debate about this in the 1990s), the Commission would be obliged to note in its opinion on an accession application that the UK did not appear to meet Copenhagen 9/

Funny how referendums are mainly around matters that deal with Europe, but never on the Monarchy, the role of the Church of England, on water privatisation and so on. Anyway, I’m not sure even what the question would be as freedom of movement is reciprocal. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

The British syndrome, summarised: 78% of us say our high streets are important to us. But only 28% of us actually use their local high street even once a week – and only 53% of people said they used theirs *once a month*. We won't use it, and we won't lose it.

2/ But don't start celebrating just yet. This is what Serbia is - a house of dying lies and a republic of desolate minds. The media, both foreign and domestic, when they reported on Serbia, focused on issues like corruption and crime, but it is much worse than you think. ⬇️

Hard to transpose electoral lessons from one country / system to another. But the contrast between Lula's broad, majoritarian front (overcoming internal differences & integrating civil society movements) and Europe's fragmented lefts is striking.

This isn't hyperbole or a joke. Parents actually called the cops and got the black boy and his family removed and the league claimed they were trespassing because he was "putting on a show" and wasn't playing "fair."

They called the cops on this 3-year-old Black boy because he was kickin the white kids' ass on the soccer field.

Thing is, like the previous vote, the anti-Euro feelings are not based on rational considerations, arguments or expert opinion. It’s all sentiment. There are arguments for and against, but we could ‘work towards joining’ conceivably for 50 years, so in practice it’s an *option* for 🇬🇧.
