The way you win over voters to the right is to say you understand their concerns and that they’re right about everything. The way to win over voters on the left is to tell them you hold them in total contempt.

When I lived in the UK none of my concerns e.g. affordable housing, climate action, increases in welfare spending, scrapping tuition fees, an ethical foreign policy, were ever framed as legitimate concerns. lnstead I was routinely told to fuck off by most political parties for having such concerns.

American Nazis existed in the 1980s–90s. They were reported on derisively and known as "neo-Nazis." They were, so far as young me could tell, universally thought of as loser freaks with no real power. So it must be hard for older people to imagine that young neo-Nazis run today's Republican Party.

Anyone who doesn't think we had autistic kids back in the day didn't know the kids I knew in elementary school, the ones that were called "hyper" or "spastic" or were suspected of having "water on the brain," etc. Kids today are a lot better off with a formal diagnosis and treatment.
