“Sickening racism and vulgar politics” is on-point summation of the Susan Collins 2026 campaign. Kudos to Stevens Collins (no relation) for abandoning his long-time deference to the Senator and describing how far she has fallen.

When we say “Trump owns this war,” we don’t just mean politically. He’s literally profiting off it—to the tune of tens of millions of dollars. The next time he says high gas prices are “a small price to pay," remember: 🟢 Trump’s not paying for it 🟢 The longer it drags on, the more money he makes

Susan Collins has had essentially unlimited $$ support from her billionaire donors...so attending a fundraiser NINE DAYS before Election Day -- instead of being out knocking doors etc etc -- sort of gives the game way: It's a money-for-access trade. Q: Can you name a time when you voted against Trump and it changed the outcome? SUSAN COLLINS: At one point, I had organized people to vote against Sec. Hegseth. At the very last minute one of our Republicans changed his mind. Otherwise he would've been defeated. Q: So it didn't change the outcome

"The picture of defeat" strikes me 2 ways: 1. Brazil differs from the U.S. in that nepo-authoritarians get tight with their homies when watching election returns versus retreating to luxury suites and sky boxes. 2. That's a COVID superspreader event.
