Were 90s kids clamoring for a Batman cartoon with 1930s Art Deco aesthetics? Is that what the market demanded? Or did some really smart creative people have a vision and make a genre-defining hit that sustained 20 years of TV shows? If you want success look for vision, not just metrics.
Hi. I, a trans woman, am the Executive Producer of this show. I wrote the question. He called trans girls men. He has now said it in three different places in the past week.
ive talked on how i wont engage with writers who use ai, i wont eat at a restaurant with an ai menu, i wont have anything to do with it. but what this post illustrates is regardless of how OTHERS react, ultimately the worst part about using ai is that you are punishing YOURSELF and dont even know it
Every year transphobes say the wave of detransitions will begin any day now, and every year the number of detransitioners who will work with them, worldwide, remains in the low to mid countable-on-one-hand
It’s almost a worse feeling to want to feel optimistic but forcing yourself to stay pessimistic.
And I was in the “of course he won” camp of 2016. Political trauma, y’all.
in the narrative of this ad, kyle, our white plagiarist, isn't even depicted as worried about his own job performance; he steals labor because seeing someone who's not a white guy being praised "really got to him"
if that doesn't sum up where we are with all of this, i don't know what does
The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot
A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead:

The Society of Authors has withdrawn from the ill-conceived concession to the dark side that was the "ethical GenAI" charter because of the mass and vocal outrage of authors.
Publishers need to be made afraid of this level of anger too.
A few years ago I was going through the archived papers of a guy who ran a prominent theater in the 1980s, and between drafts of playbills and invoices for upholstery I found a large collection of his very polite correspondence with sex workers
These images are all from this excellent book btw. And I’ve got an Interview with the Vampire video coming this weekend! Make sure you’re subscribed to get the notification: YouTube.com/mattbaume
all the trouble of making a nice edition of my boy and then you put the wrong kind of whale on it??
like how many more whale facts did you need him to put in this thing
Another one.
The premise: Young people are cutting off their parents for minor mistakes and misunderstandings.
The lead anecdote: A woman severs ties with her family for refusing to get vaccinated before her wedding — to a man who *lost his mother and brother to COVID*
Right-wing billionaires now own the Washington Post, the LA Times, CNN, CBS News, virtually every local TV station, virtually every news radio station, most local newspapers, X, Facebook, Threads, and TikTok. (Did I miss any?)
They own almost the entire information environment.
Note: TikTok - 15% owned by Musk pal Larry Ellison - permanently banned our "Musk" the movie account on the platform. www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/politic...
T4T Wrestling (@t4twrestle) is being covered by CBS News LA today! i’m so incredibly proud of what we’ve built together!
we’ve worked tirelessly to create a platform for ourselves in an industry that has historically denied us opportunities and representation and we have no intention of stopping! 🏳️⚧️
SCOOP: 'Tommy' from the now-viral exchange with Abdul El-Sayed is Thomas Teepell, a former staffer for Republican Senator Josh Hawley with close ties to Christian Nationalist Sean Feucht. He's the son of a former Bobby Jindal staffer whose consultant work was instrumental in getting Hawley elected.
Ossoff: "Tech titans dig bunkers while warning us the AI they're creating risks human extinction. Meanwhile, our Congress debates youth sports and the president builds a ballroom ... I refuse to leave my girls a world as dark and dangerous and cruel as this one threatens to become"
Elon Musk is now officially the biggest-ever disclosed midterm donor. Here's where the $$ went:
Before tonight - $91 million to back Republicans.
Tonight's filings - $158 million to SLF PAC to back Ken Paxton, plus $88 million to his America PAC
TOTAL SO FAR: $337 million.
& more coming tonight.
No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads
WSJ: 'The Trump administration’s investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar is aimed at building a case to strip her of her U.S. citizenship and ultimately deport her, according to U.S. officials and other people familiar with the probe'
what I actually want to see from my trade body is not "how do we use this unethical tech created by mass theft from our members and designed to put them out of work", nor is it a two page spread in my trade magazine promoting its use by publishers.
@societyofauthors.bsky.social need to do much, much better about talking to your members before taking these kind of swings that look a lot like a kick in the face.
But when shopping, I encourage you to consider the total package. Sometimes you're not just buying a product, but also good service, a fun day, and a memory.
After all, it's through shopping at these places that they will continue to exist.

🗃️ In Genoa a couple years ago I saw this sculpture by Bruno Catalano, which says much more about what it means to be Genoese, or "Italian" than the fake outrage of Chris Rufo and the never-ending saga of Christopher Columbus apologism.
