Ok, Ubuntu 26.04 will be here in less than 60 days. I am going to dedicate the month of May to saving as many poor souls from Win he11 as possible by being extremely Linux evangelistic ;p

Israeli turnout now at 55.7% as of 4pm — up 8% on 2022 and the highest ever recorded in Israeli history. There are still six hours left of voting from 4pm and the Central Elections Committee says polling stations must remain open if there are voters still queuing.

Turnout in Israel is currently 44.9% — the highest ever recorded at 2pm in Israeli history. I'm optimistic this means the end of Netanyahu. Polling won't have reflected just how many will decide on the day that they cannot vote for the man who presided over the biggest slaughter of Jews since WW2.

This chart is insane. This shows Russia's casualties over time compared to Russia's territorial gains in Ukraine over the last five years. No sane or rational person would say continuing the war to try and take more of Ukraine's territory is worth the casualties.

it is so utterly bleak and enraging that a new accusation of rape means so fucking little in this landscape.

NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

So Trump’s closing argument is that high gas prices are good because his donors who run oil companies are making bank, Jon Husted has a nice ass but not quite as good as Nicki Minaj’s ass, after 7 months the Reflecting Pool is almost done, and we get a ballroom, arch and helipad.

Three years ago, my dad said that all fish are the same shape. Out of spite, I decided to draw all 478 families of bony fish listed in Nelson 2016. There's still some stuff I need to edit and some fish I want to redraw but, after 985 days, I finished my big dumb fish project last night.

I found myself pondering this afternoon how many people would have to *disappear to make the world a better place. I thought that losing fewer than a dozen would help immensely.

Two critical elections tomorrow: the runoff for the Brazilian Presidential election which could cement Trump’s influence over South America if Bolsonaro wins; and the snap election in Serbia which Putin will be closely watching.

And I *think* I have a working 5.25" drive now. I ran gw to make a SCP file of the disk, and converted it to IMG, but unlike the two copies from online, the one I made throws an error in DOSBox-X ERROR CPU:Illegal Unhandled Interrupt Called 6 So, I'm stuck 🤷‍♂️ Can send SCP and/or IMG if you'd like.

P.S. I inspected the downloaded, and generated, IMG files with a hex editor, and they look similar, e.g. all contain 1980s era copyright notices inside :) so it might be a good data dump?

around four decades ago, Tandy had some instructional software for their computers called The FUNdamentals. Of the six versions (for different models; there were differences in content), only two (for the original 1000, and 1000 EX) seem to be available online... bsky.app/profile/conr...

Conrad Knauer@conrad.knauer.ca

for model, catalogue number Tandy 1000, 25-1124 SX, 25-1166 EX, 25-1167 HX/TX, 25-1186 TL, 25-1233 SL, 25-1236

My family had a 1000 SX when I was a kid, and at some point, we got the SX version of the software IIRC. Wanting to play that again, I began a quest to find it. I found a copy for sale (does it work? 🤷‍♂️), got a Greaseweazle, dug thu by old computer parts, and bought some more...

The fact that the president's doctors are giving him the dementia test over and over again -- tracking his decline, most likely -- and that the president keeps bragging about having to take that test should be a five-alarm fire.

It sounds like hyperbole to suggest the current administration WANTS measles to become common again but I can’t think of much they’d be doing differently if they didn’t want that. (I think some of them really are eugenicists who legit prefer disease spread to prevention; others just don’t care)

David Ho@davidho.bsky.social

The CDC denied a request from California, Hawaiʻi, Oregon, and Washington to validate a high-volume measles test, citing “other priorities.” 🤨
