I talked to NIH officials, current and former, about what's been happening inside the agency since the Trump administration shut down their grantmaking pipeline in January. Their stories showed just how willing our new leaders are to break the law: www.theatlantic.com/health/archi...

I know it all seems maddeningly slow to those of us in the biz, but a new report shows that *every one of America's 50 states* (and Puerto Rico!) took action on grid modernization in 2024. It's starting to happen.

nacleanenergy.comThe 50 States of Grid Modernization: States Advance Integrated Distribution System Planning and Grid Flexibility in 2024The N.C. Clean Energy Technology Center (NCCETC) released its 2024 annual review and Q4 2024 update edition of The 50 States of Gr...

Imagine saying this about an agency that has helped millions of people around the world avoid malaria, obtain clean water, and gain access to food & health care. Especially when you’re the world’s richest man & your net worth is something like 20 times this agency’s annual budget. What a foul soul.

"Scientists as political advocates" | Must-read commentary in Science Magazine mentions my #ScienceUnderSiege co-author Dr. Peter Hotez and me in the context of the dual assault by the right on both climate and public health science: www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

I spent days digging into the public statements of every single Trump Cabinet pick to see what they've said about climate change and it was a horrible process but I did it because Journalism Is Important and climate change is actually real so please click it I beg you heated.world/p/trumps-ent...

heated.worldTrump's entire Cabinet misrepresents climate changeI analyzed the public statements of each nominee. It was awful. (Though Matt Gaetz was surprising?)

2024 may be hotter than 1.5C over pre-industrial temperatures, but that doesn't mean we will have passed the 1.5C target of the Paris Agreement in 2024 this is good information👇

Prof Richard Betts@richardabetts.bsky.social

Passing through 1.5°C will be marked by several milestones - first year above 1.5°C in one or more datasets - exceedance of 1.5°C with instantaneous indicators - confirmation that 1.5°C was exceeded in the 20-year average (as per IPCC) The first one is happening now www.nature.com/articles/d41...

This is why I said we needed to hold off on the day-after hot takes about What The Election Means. We still don’t have all the numbers but it’s clear any talk of a “mandate” was wildly overblown. He won, yes. But only narrowly.

David Pakman@davidpakman.bsky.social

Donald Trump is now (1) below 50% popular vote and (2) has a margin of popular vote victory roughly HALF of Hillary's victory in 2016. They believe the left has to lay down and shut up because of this "landslide" victory.

Remember: fascism thrives on apathy. The autocrats want you to tune out. They want to overwhelm you. They want you to give up. Don’t give them want they want. Stay in this fight. Remain vigilant. And let’s keep building.

So the GOP is just currently covering up potential sex crimes against children by one of their members and instead of releasing the report, they are trying to make that person the Attorney General of the United States? Do we have that right?

This outcome of this election was based on ONE thing: The inability of 79 million Americans to understand (or care) about the difference between right and wrong.

Governor Andy Beshear, in a Trump +30 state, gives advice to Democrats: Do not throw LGBTQ+ people under the bus, it will not work. His advice to dems: Lead on your values. This man ran on a fully inclusive campaign in 2023 and won. He received the same kind of ads Harris did.
