Phony Stark is who you'd get if you gave Beavis and Butt-Head a multi-billion dollar fortune. He's a juvenile delinquent with no self-control and an absolute belief that he's entitled to everything without consequence. (His Tesla car models are S, 3, X, and Y, which says it all, really. ๐Ÿ™„)

Kind of crazy that the plan here was apparently for Trump to somehow steal the election for them

The next Dem trifecta needs to make it a priority to pass a law that using an asset as collateral for a loan constitutes the realization of a capital gain on that asset and that gain is immediately subject to taxation.

For the fabulously wealthy, paying taxes is pretty much optional. They can borrow against their vast wealth, which is mostly an untaxed capital gain, without paying taxes. When they die, the capital gain goes to zero. And loopholes exist to bypass the estate tax too.

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs donโ€™t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And thatโ€™s cowardly as shit.

Obviously this is racist and gross, but it's also shockingly historically illiterate? No one who has taken a single high school world history course would deny that Arab culture has produced incredible science and literature. This is why we need basic humanities education.

I don't care for how this has become almost a joke people throw in along with how he's old and fat and orange rather than a stomach-churning, existentially horrifying thing for a nation to know about its head of state.

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

Astonishing: Maxwell was willing to tell Blanche about some of Trump's rapes, and he ordered her not to. "Let's not talk about inviduals." WTF were they there to talk about? There's EVIDENCE on this.

Amanda Marcotte@amandamarcotte.bsky.social

This report is genuinely overwhelming, in terms of the evidence both against Trump and of a ham-fisted cover-up. Including one instance in which Ghislaine Maxwell was actually about to mention one of Trump's young accusers and Todd Blanche told her to stop talking. The media response is "yawn."

I don't know that I buy the "everyone knows" excuse for the collective shrug. That reporter he yelled at seemed sincerely alarmed that he doesn't care about Ramaswamy exploiting a rape victim. Which suggests some folks still harbor the delusion that Trump thinks rape is bad.
