congratulations Bluesky users, you will still be young about 15 years from now

58 year old Tennessee GOP House candidate dismisses unsolicited dick pic he sent as a 53 year old as "youthful indiscretion" www.nashvillescene.com/news/pithint...

my case for voting Wiener in CA-11 is pretty simple: he will either be brilliant or he will be terrible. and if he ends up being terrible, he will be easier to get rid of than Connie Chan because none of the establishment will go to bat for him.

Sam@samd.bsky.social

my brief voter guide on some of the most important races in the country: -vote for all democrats, obviously -vote YES in the NYC ballot measures -vote for Nithya Raman in LA -vote for Scott Wiener in CA-11 -vote for Ben Allen for CA insurance commish -vote YES on prop H & RTM for Bay Area transit

While Wedgewood tried to pass off their fraud as an “experiment” there are concerning indicators they were trying to herd Democratic primary electorates towards the GOP’s desired winners in ME (Platner), MI (AES) and WI (Hong), or trying to bait us into wasting money on long shot races like MS.

Look if you didn’t support Mallory fine but wedgewood had fucked up implications for her campaign

Remembering that time when some big name accounts were arguing that X is all good now and the algorithm has been de-Elon'd. Wait, that was yesterday. The same time this was happening.

Incredible stuff happening in the Nate Silver midterm forecast. The Kansas #kssen US Senate election is more competitive than Maine #mesen. And Alaska #aksen is the tightest US Senate race in the country. It really feels like a realignment is happening.

actually we should normalize banning people for platforming JD Vance

Jon Passantino@passantino.bsky.social

NEWS @status.news: The anonymous source behind one of the stories the White House cited to justify banning POLITICO was none other than Vice President JD Vance. The full story: www.status.news/p/white-hous...

House GOP leaders cancel votes on Thursday - sending lawmakers home later today until after the elections. That means the House can avoid a vote on the Hegseth impeachment plan from Rep. Thomas Massie R-KY.

Sorry it just occurred to me that there may be people who haven’t seen clip from the Quibi show where Rachel Brosnahan plays a woman dying because of her golden prosthetic arm and I needed to fix that

You cannot kill Quibi, unlike Rachel Brosnahan’s character in the Quibi show about a woman with a golden arm

remove him from the senate democratic caucus. if he does this tonight, the removal must happen tomorrow. you don’t get to call yourself a Democrat and do shit like this.

It looks like one of the emergency slides may have improperly deployed? Which if so i would like to know A LOT more about how that happened. Did a crew member mess up the arming/disarming procedures, or did the mechanism malfunction on mfing Air Force One??? Plane shouldn't fly until replaced.

That's absolutely wild - you're watching a $400+ million dollar fireworks show. Can't keep doing that forever. And just think of what Ukraine could do with $400m in interceptors.

Sven-Erik Volberg@volberg.bsky.social

I've seen trigger happy before but this is just silly bad. US forces spamming Patriot PAC interceptors like candy in last night attack. Over 100 used. PAC-3 might litterally run out. PAC-2 has deeper stocks. #Iran #Jordan

One of the Dem weaknesses is that we refuse to attack the MAGA base. Meanwhile they attack Dems as inherently evil people who might be demonic and whatever their corrupt politician is doing “Dems are worse”

This in no way excuses her, and in fact makes it both funnier and grosser: is it possible she thinks a hijab is a keffiyeh

Hunter Walker@hunterw.bsky.social

In Bari Weiss' Free Press, Olivia Reingold reported from El-Sayed's watch party that "there were keffiyehs as far as the eye could see ... keffiyehs on heads, keffiyehs as belts, keffiyeh-printed phone cases." Not a single one made it into images from Reuters, a local ABC station, or Detroit News.

A friend of mine argues that Trump generally manic-posts when he’s stuck in the situation room bored and waiting for something to happen, i.e. he thinks it’s correlated with Trump ordering military stakes and looking at his phone while waiting for them to be carried out

HELL Kennedy@helenkennedy.com

He's now on one of his insane posting sprees - several about how young he looks, a doctored photo of Springsteen to make him look old (such dignified presidential behavior), posts about his dumb monuments, several posts showing him as George Washington or with an alien, and a threat to Greenland.

That thing where an OpenAI model broke out of the sandbox and hacked Hugging Face? Happened three different times with Anthropic models. (3/141,006, tbf). All three cases were because a sandbox wasn’t properly set up.

Not really going to get in on the politics here but the conversation between @volts.wtf and CF's Jan Sramek was fascinating. Sramek is planning something very different than what you'd think based on "tech utopia" and "backed by Marc Andreessen", both of which are very bad things.

volts.wtfIs the brand new city in California for real?Jan Sramek joins me to discuss the controversy, funding, and master plan behind the massive California Forever project.

this is hardly the most problematic thing about Mark Sanford #SCSen, but his own campaign website heavily implies that he would consider himself fortunate to survive a full 6 year Senate term due to his age! “…in 6.5 years. Mark is 66 and hopes he will still be around…” www.marksanford.com/issues

this is the sort of age-related concern that: 1. the campaign should never have brought up to begin with 2. certainly should have been scrubbed when he repurposed his abandoned US House campaign website for a US Senate campaign, running for a seat vacated by an incumbent who literally died in office

this is such a strange rallying cry to insist on something that would be counterproductive, ineffective, and worse than the status quo. no idea why this is suddenly a talking point.

Michael J. Stern@michaeljstern.bsky.social

Actions by Democrats at the moment are not only about following routine avenues. Voters view Dems as ineffectual and stay home. Appointing a McConnell replacement under the belief he's dead may not win the legal battle that ensues but it will show signs of life - something Dems desperately need.
