25 years ago today, George W. Bush signed the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force into law. Barbara Lee was the only member of Congress to vote against it, warning it would be a blank check for forever wars. History has proven her lonely and courageous vote right.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but what’s going on in the south right now with voting rights and erasure, is a “kitchen table issue” — for Black families. And it should be for everyone.

Yes! Hate Politics needs to be consigned to the trash everywhere The LGBTQ+ community in Hungary in particular has been holding its breath: Orban tried to ban 2025 Budapest Pride and many thousands of Hungarians of all backgrounds attended, to flood the streets against him bsky.app/profile/mria...

"Russians go home!" (Ruszkik haza!)—a 1956 revolutionary slogan echoed through Budapest as Viktor Orbán conceded defeat. On the banks of the Danube, '000s of young Hungarians celebrate a pivot back toward #equality and the EU For the #LGBTQ+ community in Hungary, this isn't just a win; it's hope 🇭🇺🏳️‍🌈

I'm a bit of a broken record on this, but usurping the power of the purse isn't just one constitutional violation among all the many others. It is, uniquely and singularly, the death of constitutional government altogether. Game over, end of story, you now live in an autocracy.

Justice Jackson dissented about callous treatment of immigrants through the majority’s “grave misuse” of the shadow docket, & the “bald assertion of unconstrained executive power over countless families’ pleas for the stability our government has promised them.” Looks like she got through to them.

Judge Goodwin: "An anonymous government is no government at all. It cannot be held accountable. A masked agent freely uses force without justifying his actions, and the public cannot name him to challenge his conduct. A regime of secret policing has no place in our society."

👀The federal judges in West Virginia, where ICE has been pulling over and detaining people on the freeway, are literally screaming about ICE's tactics. "It is an assault on the constitutional order," Judge Goodwin says. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I know people on Bsky know this but I hope it filters out: The feds are OCCUPYING the Twin Cities. This is a blockade, a siege. They are shutting down economic and civic activity. They are conducting "papers please" stops. They are criminalizing being a bystander/witness. You could be next.

Hey, @washingtonpost.com. USPS didn’t “post a $X loss in 2025.” It’s a 233-year-old public service that cost $X to run. By that logic, your local fire department “posts a loss” just by existing between fires. Those aren’t the same thing. After 148 years of reporting, you should know better by now.
