Zeitgeist 2.0 is out now, and I think it's the best journaling app around. Let me show you why. 🧵

The DPG registry came up just this week in our “sustainable digitalization” course at uni and now my PDS host is on there, what a timing 🥳

We're delighted to announce that the Eurosky Identity Platform has been officially verified by the Digital Public Goods Alliance as a digital public good (DPG). eurosky.tech/news/eurosky...

I was thinking about atproto more and had a thought: no one needs to know or care about the protocol. we just need to normalize the idea that it’s bonkers to allow any company to own part of your identity it’s like how you used to lose your phone number if you switched carriers. that sucked

There is so much good stuff happening all the time that we just don't hear about because a large % of news/discourse suffers from negativity bias. Luckily, sites like goodnews.eu/en/ exist :)

i challenge you to post one optimistic take or belief today on bluesky this needn’t be toxic positivity, just good ol’ run of the mill optimism/hope in the face of a torrential downpour of doom

What is direct democracy, essentially? For us in Switzerland, it means very frequent voting: ≈9 federal ballot measures per year, plus a large volume of cantonal and local votes. But it also means a practical challenge: who can open the voting envelope without tearing it apart? Always a tricky one

this is basically why you haven’t seen anything new come out. the companies and people who are already capable of shipping are still doing so at faster rates, while most projects get abandoned

dax@thdxr.com

the last 20% to get a product shipped and successful is as difficult as ever this is where 99% of programmers have always fallen off the first 80% is a lot easier and so we're seeing more abandoned projects than ever

I increasingly think that little games like this and @pudding.cool style visual essays are the best ways of informing the public about issues in a way that doesn't feel abstract anymore. The board game “Daybreak” also does this very well regarding climate change.

New: Trump called crypto "thin air." Last year, he reported $1.4 billion in income from it. Buyers of his crypto? They're an estimated $4.7 billion underwater. I made an 8-bit game out of it— 📈 Play as Trump: you cannot lose money. 📉 Play as an investor: you cannot win.

hard pill to swallow for atproto developers/creators: 99% of potential users either do not care about, value, understand, or want to “own their own data” i see so many apps/projects lead with this “value prop”, but it’s not an important or meaningful consideration for most people

Worked a bit more on the art direction/branding for @morgen.blue. I really like this “dreamy” look I ended up with and even built myself a little tool where I can generate more similar background visuals like these. #buildinpublic

How much you play is my favorite measure of success in this industry. You stop looking up to tech execs (who look miserable) or hyper-growth founders (stressed) and start looking up to independent creative minds who shape a space that allows them to play.

After thinking about this question all weekend, I think my favorite candidate is the alchemical symbol for air: 🜁 It’s connotes both atmosphere and “transfer”. It’s a standard Unicode character. It references a capital “A.” And it’s very simple, which feels appropriate for a protocol, like 🌐 or 🛜.

correct. no code - whether written by a human or an agent - should be getting reviewed by a human without being first reviewed by another agent. imo that includes reviewing yourself! respect your own time and dont review the agents work until it’s asked for review from another model.

Filippo Valsorda@filippo.abyssdomain.expert

Nuclear opinion: I don’t care if you use AI to write code,¹ but making a human review a change before an LLM is disrespectful. Why am I catching your bugs if a computer could have done it? It’s like asking to review code that doesn’t compile or pass CI. ¹ As long as you do it responsibly.

This 👇 And it doesn't even take that much to make a product look more polished (80/20 rule, as always). Being *intentional* about a few fundamental design choices goes a loooooong way.

i don't know for how long the slop ui look has been going on but i'm already sick and tired of it

okay who's building standard.reader? I want to replace rss and wallabag - follow my subscriptions, rss or standardsite - save a to-read list (also for any article type, readability.js-ified) - annotate via margin records - save / connect with semble - share with skyreader - works offline

I always imagine a little gopher inside the web server frantically hitting a red "danger" button when reading sentences like this 😂 #golang
