Shocked that Brexit was a Putin Plan? Four years we document confirmation of this by the US Army who saw it as as the “First Step in a Russian Information Blitzkrieg on the West” @nafeez.bsky.social @bylinetimes.bsky.social bylinetimes.com/2022/03/02/t...

“The British electorate are now overwhelmingly pro-remain. And yet the europhobes still argue the votes of the dead count for more than the views of the young.” Nobody born this century voted for Brexit AND more leavers have changed their minds. archive.ph/2025.12.09-1...

my sources say forcefemming, in camps, being considered for all men im pro-man and take no pleasure in reporting this
Brazil going the way of South Korea. Basically around the world women are desperately trying to keep power out of the hands of incredibly stupid fascistic grifters while men keep trying to hand it over. Men are an embarrassing cringe gender.

At one point he had a Whatsapp group with 10 million people in it, coordinating action. Which I didn't even think whatsapp was infrastructurally designed to support. And yes, whatsapp is of course a meta network, but the strategy was to be everywhere, to act redundantly, to be unbannable.

it seems to shock the New Zealand government that Peter Jackson, Taika Waititi, and the Conchords etc all emerged from the same city in the same span, which coincidentally is when Wellington rent was dirt-cheap and there were heaps of empty industrial buildings around
People don't realize how necessary cheap rent is to the arts.

New working paper: the Norwegian wealth tax was a huge success. The "exodus" of wealthy people never happened (less than 100 individuals left). Tax revenue increased by 71.5%. No changes in business activity or investment. www.nber.org/papers/w35854

11. But the economics are clear, allowing people to continue to suffer without treatment and support is expensive and unconscionable. According to NHS England, not treating ADHD costs the UK economy ~£17 billion in lost tax, benefits, unemployment, health/social care/justice costs

1. The independent Taskforce — commissioned by NHS England, backed by government — concluded ADHD is under-diagnosed, under-recognised and under-treated in the UK. Not over. The press has reported the reverse of the finding www.thetimes.com/uk/healthcar...

Telling that Wes Streeting considers someone diagnosed with ADHD has been 'written off'. Also telling that the government commissioned a review in the face of independent reviews finding there is no overdiagnosis, just increased awareness & historic underdiagnosis of girls & women.

any time i see the “ai model escapes containment” headlines i think “they should lose their engineering licenses, that shit’s out of spec”
Those of us who have the privilege of holding a role in constructing the material world others have to live in have a duty of care to its inhabitants and that's all I have to say about any kind of engineering.

I went to Geneva a few weeks ago and spoke on a panel about the nature of time for a Geneva Watch Days event. While I was there, on a lark, I entered a competition to most precisely calibrate a Swiss watch. And today I found out that I won! 😃 www.instagram.com/reel/Dd6hUTB...

A lot of the lobbying has talked about how important it is for Heathrow to be a hub aiport, and it has never been adequately explained to me why this should matter to anyone who does not own Heathrow
One day everyone is going to realise that Heathrow is never, ever, going to have a third runway and at last begin a useful discussion about Britain's airports.. www.ft.com/content/0206...

This whole issue is framed wrongly. As I've written: "Worrying that some migrants won’t pay their way is a displacement activity - an attempt to blame migrants for the failings of British capitalism." chrisdillow.substack.com/p/on-the-fis...
I’m not against e.g. state pension reform in the abstract but this piece reads very much like a version of lump of labour fallacy to me. Would be interested in @jdportes.bsky.social thoughts giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...

Which means 6 in 7 do not and many of them are more progressive than previous generations. Also, “white nationalism” might be a “phase” for some/many in this generation in the sense that “skinhead” was in a previous generation. Obviously, 1 in 7 is a concern. But it is no reason for moral panic.
In short, we do need to worry about whether many young white men are on a good path as far as their social and political worldviews 1 in 7 fall into white nationalism according to this!

My main two general takeaways as a GDR historian on this election (which will probably be painfully familiar to anyone who has followed me for a while) 1. Equating the AfD with a residual mass authoritarian personality is an oversimplification that obscures effects of post-89 social collapse...
The demographic which voted the least for the AfD was socialized entirely in the GDR, the highest share at 53% (35-44) were children or infants when the wall came down and 42% of those born in the 21st century voted for them.

On the argument that Britain doing anything about climate change is futile because we're so small.
New post: With climate change now visible all around us opponents of action are changing tack. Dismantling their new attacks helps identify a hidden structure in political argument that is often used to try and kill popular + necessary policies. (£/free trial) samf.substack.com/p/how-to-kil...
