uchikoshi pretty literally said this too in that inteview recently and idk yall. if you view your coworkers as obstacles instead of collaborators maybe you're just a bad leader
I appreciate the bar is quite low but this excerpt from an interview with Molyneux about AI is almost too on the nose. Nice anecdote about a colleague he used to respect and enjoy working with, followed by an explanation of how him and everyone like him is now expendable.
NEW: Remedy's latest game, Control Resonant, is filled with art galleries. The galleries are filled with real art
When I began talking to Remedy about it, I was delighted to discover who the artists are: many are the game developers' parents
My story...

I wanted to not write this! I'd rather talk about the cool games that are coming out every day.
Yes, Sweeney has half a point. But for everything correct he says about Valve's near-monopoly, he does two headass things that only drive people further towards Valve.
Billionaire yells at monolith.
The Starlight Children's Foundation is accepting donations on Eric Bauza's behalf, who was fundraising for the charity before he passed. It would be wonderful if you could donate or spread the word donate.starlight.org/fundraiser/7...
What’s this? Oh nothing just OLD SKIES ON THE FRONT PAGE OF WIKIPEDIA.
Totally chill about this. Anyway, if Wikipedia like my game maybe you will too? store.steampowered.com/app/1346360/...
learning that the legendary "creator's wife with mobility loss" who everyone says ~inspired~ Dressmaker is in fact a co creator and developer for the game and also they are not even married
Bauza… the kindest, sweetest, funniest friend and also the most talented, wish I could talk to you about all this. I miss making silly videos in the toy aisle with you doing the voices, going to the to see the latest animated feature, eating Japanese bbq. You’d always cheer me up when I was sad…🩵
Steam Next Fest appears to have settled a little bit now and is recommending me less of the slop so here's my journey with some demos! AMONG US STORY: ON GUARD is barely a taste, clocking in at 15 minutes, but there's a lot of fun characters here that reminds me of the excellent animated series!
THE BAGMAN asks what if the Genesis/Megadrive had its own version of Clock Tower, introduces an "if then" command system for moving NPCs around, and then swaps the mouse buttons for "look" and "use" that every other point and click game has used for decades for no good reason. Intrigues me, though!

sorry i need to publicly be a hater for a second but what do you mean the giant 230k+ signature save mass effect petition is only about the IP and not the devs that were laid off
My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today.
Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.
Was reminded of this amazing memory; We were all walking back from a group photo in front of the 'Looney Tunes Cartoons' billboard on the WB lot, saw a tour tram and I told the guys "You HAVE to do this, you're all here, when are you ever gonna get a chance like this?" and it made that tour's day!
I made a game in a week.
It's a 30-minute body horror concept about ignoring the call of identity and the fear of pursuing transness in a mature marriage.

So much to say about Brazil, not least of which is the role that Erika Hilton, a Black trans leader and most voted woman politician in Brazil, played in mobilizing folks for Lula. She was behind the critical, concrete, economic promise of shorter work-week.

Since I moved to LA, it seemed like every career milestone I had, Bauza was there to cheer and celebrate alongside me. My first union job, my first professional record session where we shared the booth together, all the premieres and wrap parties and gatherings, he was like the MC of our lives...

APPLE CRUMBLE is a cozy mystery game and it appears to be up to you if it becomes a cozy MURDER mystery game. I think I can guess the conceit of the mystery from the demo but it'll be interesting to see if the full game sticks the landing! The art style is gorgeous and the voice acting impeccable!
PATRICIDE is an RPG the same way that Killer7 is a shooter: a technically correct classification that's woefully inadequate. In this particular case I was put off by the obtuse weirdness that the tutorials only somehow made even worse, but it's an interesting sort of obtuse weirdness!
No, goddamnit, why? So young, so many more years of joy to give and receive. Thank you Eric Bauza, you were an inspiration and a powerhouse of acting and I wish I had had the chance to say that to you. Fuck.

CODE OF THE SAVAGE harkens back to the days of oldschool CRPGs like Ultima, and like those games this feels like it's best played with the manual open next to you and the hotkey sheet perched on top of the function keys on your keyboard. There's in-game tutorial tips but... it's not the same.
ANOMALITH asks what if you were a ranger from the FBC of Remedy's Control, only you were an anime girl who also gains magical powers through parrying? Honestly, very stiff and slow-paced which feels like it came from a world that never had RE4, with sudden difficulty spikes when facing bosses.

HOPE IN THE CITY is an adventure game with a fun inventory system that's made up of thoughts that you can combine together to make new thoughts! You might have seen this done in other games but the number of unique, fully voice acted responses to each combination, even failed ones, is wild!
Also, full disclosure: I know the voice actor for the main character and have auditioned for parts in this game in the past so I might not have the most impartial opinion on this game. Demo's still worth trying out though!

BLACKOUT: FATAL EXPOSURE has you play a shut-in sorting through photos that may be filled with malevolent paranormal energies, or may be perfectly ordinary photos of ordinary Japanese life. Meanwhile weird people/things keep up showing at your apartment. A little rough but the premise has promise!
DEAD OF THE BRAIN is a modern port of a PC-98 classic with some QoL features like hotspot highlights that can't disguise the very oldschool game mechanics - like having to interact with every single thing in multiple rooms before you can advance the story. Graphics are lovely nostalgia-fueled anime!
Fun fact: this is also true of gardeners! Beginners often use mistakes as proof they’re not good enough, but experienced gardeners know you just have to keep making mistakes, and eventually it all works out.
Every garden is a bunch of happy accidents, and I think that’s beautiful.
For aspiring voice actors (or really any creative) wondering when they will finally feel like a professional:
the distinction between beginner and seasoned pro is not that the pro makes no mistakes.
A pro makes a LOT more mistakes, faster, and more embarrassing mistakes than any beginner!
When you know that Dr. Frank-N-Furter would have approved of your gender aura, you can be certain that you’re becoming the best version of yourself ✨ Don’t dream it, be it.
I recently responded to a thread about point & click games, and listed off like.... 12 of them.
BUT just realised, I didn't say Unavowed. I can't go back and add ANOTHER response.
So, posting it here.
Unavowed is an AMAZING point and click game that you should play.

And here is where i scare all my new followers by stating my shit is QUEER AF. Just ripping the bandaid off now so I don't jump scare y'all later when it comes up. The gods are a horny polycule blasting a cosmic worm with bisexual lighting.
Can't say i didn't warn ya.
EA's closure of BioWare is transparently a vile move to shutter the studio that made by far their queerest titles. In the wake of this, I implore you:
MAKE MORE QUEER ART.
Make it trans. Make it horny. Make it scary. Make it loving. Make it with every inch of yourself. Flood the world with it!
this isn't even just digital hobbies. I've talked about this elsewhere but it's literally even spreading into line dancing. this one choreographer is leveraging his existing respect to grift everybody into playing + streaming his AI slop songs by choreographing to them
70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...
This is just insanity. One of the best studios to ever do it, with a big-budget immersive sim based on a major Marvel property ALMOST FINISHED, and nobody wants to release it!?
The big business side of this industry has gone completely mad.
Put Blade in the bag and nobody gets hurt! https://kotaku.com/arkane-devs-say-blade-is-nearly-finished-but-if-it-cant-find-a-buyer-soon-the-studio-will-close-2000749096
