Nigel Farage has given Reform UK candidates permission to publicly support the serial criminally convicted fraudster, thug, stalker and far-right activist who founded the English Defence League. This is who they are. Never forget it.

On 3 September 1953, the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) came into force. Since then, it’s quietly helped protect the rights we rely on every day – including our freedom to speak out, to protest, to love who we choose and to live in peace. www.libertyhumanrights.org.uk/issue/the-re...

Ahead of tomorrow's budget statement. Here’s how the UK chancellor can raise the billions needed to improve the quality of life of millions by addressing tax and fiscal anomalies. There is no shortage of money. All that is needed is the political will.

This went on for the rest of the full hour, at which point the BBC apologised for having to go to the weather and urged viewers to follow continuing live coverage on iPlayer. Forty-one minutes of unfiltered, unchallenged propaganda by a far right party with 8 MPs, now third in the polls. Discuss.
BBC News just interrupted its coverage to go, live, to Nigel Farage - a man with no contitutional standing in our setup - responding to the budget - a document which nobody has seen yet. WHY

💯The case for democracy is not that voters are always right, or wise, or good. It's that they can correct their mistakes. That's why it's so dangerous to have billionaires controlling the media or regulating the flow of information. It shuts down the immune system of democracy.
I was having conversations with journalists just a few months ago about whether democracy was doomed. Look at this year: Orban defeated. Vukic defeated. Bolsonaro Jr defeated. Trump heading to likely defeat in midterms. That’s the beauty of democracy. Voters can respond. Don’t count it out yet.

James O'Brien highlighting how Brexit populists demonised EU freedom of movement with toxic lies shows why Britain must confront reality. Reciprocal mobility was the engine of Single Market growth, not a threat. Why remain trapped by populist myths? 🤔 #RejoinEU

We’ve never learned this lesson in the UK. We still have to listen to the ‘legitimate concerns’ of a bunch of racists and fascists.
I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Healey to ensure state pension (SP) is not taxed for poorest pensioners, SP set to exceed personal allowance (PA). A person relying solely on SP will pay no income tax. Another with lower SP & other source for the same total income could pay tax. Unfair. Cliffe-edge issues. Increase PA for all.

North East Bylines reporting 72% of Labour voters want talks on rejoining the EU shows public appetite for real change. Brexit swapped fluid reciprocal mobility for a £180bn economic black hole and a one-way visa ratchet. Why stay trapped in failure? (1/2) 🤔 #RejoinEU
