We've just launched the first large, site-less (home, direct to participant) randomized trial for treatment of #LongCovid, testing tirzepatide (a GLP-1 drug) vs placebo. Please help spread the word www.scripps.edu/news-and-eve...

Naur (1985) was right about the theory building view of programming. So, by definition, vibe coded programs are dead on arrival: no one possesses the theory of the program. The programmer needs to revive the program with each generated chunk of code or forever be codependent with the LLM.

You mean the judge’s intense occult training through D&D did *not* prepare the judge to accept the invitation to enter a witches’ coven? Hmph.
Haven't seen this reported anywhere but a judge overseeing Florida's attempt to age gate all social media pointed to the failure of D&D to make him worship Satan as a kid to suggest the state needs actual evidence, and not just vibes about a social media moral panic. www.techdirt.com/2025/03/11/j...

Ok, quick thread on why DeepSeek is blowing up assumptions about LLMs and maybe the whole (U.S.) AI industry. DeepSeek is an AI lab funded by a Chinese hedge fund, their AI code is open source, meaning freely available to use, which most big U.S. models (aside from Meta’s) are not. That’s the start…
And, remember, if it is “non-denominational” it’s just Baptist, and definitely of the emotional experience kind.
But from this I hope you can look up a church, find out what denominational organization it is a part of, read its statement of faith, and look up the bits you don't know on Wikipedia and get a decent sense of what kind of church you're looking at.

I've built a machine that can be Confidently Wrong. It can also make pictures that all look a bit the same, as well as make a video of you kissing any celebrity or person you know. In payment, I'd like to boil the world's oceans dry, & steal all literature. For some reason, my head is not on a spike

I'm on my university's tenure and promotion committee, and I spent half the day yesterday discussing the cases of scholars whose brilliant, groundbreaking, and life-saving work was made possible by federal research grants. And it's devastating to think of how much knowledge we'll lose going forward.
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

Tech in 90s/2000s: here's a bunch of cool shit that will make life easier & more fun, and yea we'll get rich People: yay! Tech today: let's burn the planet for crypto and AI & require a data mining contract to use your toaster, because we need to get richer People: boo! Tech: everyone's gone woke
Andreessen’s central gripe is that people don’t celebrate Silicon Valley today the way they did when it was small and cool. Another way to put that is the used to be judged on their ambitions, and now they’re judged on their impacts. That’s no fun for the victors, but it’s a necessary tradeoff.
