the lesson from the right is not that their obsessions with trans volleyball, anti Haitian blood libel, or reversing the change in teen pregnancy rate are actually the well framed kitchen table issues of the volk but simply that political discourse becomes about things people say often and loudly

New: We pieced together dozens of violent incidents from the ICE agents seen in viral videos from Virginia this week. They've roamed across multiple states, but are most often working in Chicago. We also verified the identity of Martin Lagunas, the fed who pointed his gun at a woman on Monday:

We need to abolish all of DHS—not just ICE www.huffpost.com/entry/minnes...
I walked alone out of a store to find three vehicles backing into a Chinese restaurant parking lot, agents pulling up face gaiters. I whistled and pointed, and we all stared at each other with the whistle screaming until they peeled out and drove away. I've never felt so vulnerable or so powerful.

Furthermore, the evidence shows that when center-left parties adopt right wing policies, it does not help them win votes. In fact, it only makes the right more powerful because its seen as a legitimization of right wing grievances. People will vote for the real fascists. UK Labour being the example

This really underscores the fact that not only do we need ICE abolished, but we need full permanent legal status for everyone who's been affected by this campaign of terror. We can't leave the threat of deportation hanging over anybody's head as we work our way out of this.
ICE does not deny that it's pressuring key eyewitnesses to the shooting of Lorenzo Araujo to agree to deportation without a court hearing, and instead offers no responsive comment at all.

(3) if elites are of the opinion that a 'progressive' stance on some issue is a liability, the rational response is to not talk about it rather than priming an issue the right defines itself on by taking a weak-sauce 'me also' position, thereby reinforcing the idea that the right is correct.
