NEW: Remedy's latest game, Control Resonant, is filled with art galleries. The galleries are filled with real art When I began talking to Remedy about it, I was delighted to discover who the artists are: many are the game developers' parents My story... www.gamefile.news/p/control-re...

gamefile.newsWho made the art inside Control Resonant? When the developers of Control Resonant needed to fill their video game version of New York City with art galleries, they tapped the talents of people they knew particularly well

A reminder, because it is almost that time of year: More children are killed by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year, by far. www.vox.com/future-perfe... If you're a parent, I hope you'll do what you can to keep kids safe. If you're driving on Saturday, PLEASE exercise extra caution.

I've blocked people for being insufficiently enthusiastic about Pokemon, a subject I myself am fairly lukewarm on, and my life is none the poorer for it.

"You can't block someone just for being annoying!" Those are actually the most important people to block

There's so much world to engage with, and so much unavoidable annoyance in life, that you as an individual owe no one "media availability". That's a scam by people who want to erode boundaries and privacy.

The "you can't say AI doesn't work" argument doesn't hit for me. A bunch of stuff in history "worked" with perverse externalities. You CAN recover gold from circuit boards by having children barbecue them over open fires in the street but it's not worth discussing as part of the future of recycling

When Democrats do well this fall, we’re going to see a lot of “strategists” trying to take credit for their approach. The trans panic people have been nothing but a drag on Democratic momentum and they need to fuck off into the sun

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

Brazil going the way of South Korea. Basically around the world women are desperately trying to keep power out of the hands of incredibly stupid fascistic grifters while men keep trying to hand it over. Men are an embarrassing cringe gender.

Incredible gender difference in voting intention in Brazil.

Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”

If you are USian, pay attention. We are fighting fascists funded by your oligarchs, tomorrow I have faith and hope we will win and it will be DESPITE THEIR FORTUNE. We organized in the streets and online and there is a LOT that can be applied to your fight as well

If you’re American and don’t care about the Brazilian election, you should learn how much the corrupt powerful people in the US really care about the Brazilian election.

I hate that there's Democratic infighting in the run-up to a midterm where we could finally put serious brakes on Trump's fascist project. But it should be crystal clear that the group at fault for the division is the one that's throwing the trans section of the base under the bus.

Ok so if you've got kids then I really advise you heed the PG-13 rating but everyone run don't walk to see WILDWOOD. It's incredible and a testament to the act of making art. It's not easy or smooth it's medicine.

so the xx/xy group plan to 'protect women's sports' by infiltrating supporters' sections, whining online about being called names, then posting photos and trying to dox teams' most passionate fans? at this point not treating them like a hate group akin to the proud boys or kkk is willful ignorance.

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

we should all be pissed off at this btw. if not because sex work is legitimate work and should be treated with respect, then because you should be concerned at attempts to gentrify online spaces as pretext to court investors and force out minorities so those spaces can become part of a portfolio.

I fundamentally disagree with my (immigrant, refugee) parents on so many things, but their reaction to Operation Metro Surge was, “Yeah, governments just do that sometimes,” and I realized that none of us really believe in American exceptionalism.

The Society of Authors has withdrawn from the ill-conceived concession to the dark side that was the "ethical GenAI" charter because of the mass and vocal outrage of authors. Publishers need to be made afraid of this level of anger too.

Me holding back my friend: Hey hey hey, let it go. They're not worth it. Let it go. They think the last shot of THE LONG GOODBYE (1973) isn't a direct homage to THE THIRD MAN (1949). They're beneath you, just drop it.
