Cats, Kubrick, and AC/DC. I don't admire Daniel Plainview's parenting style, but I do admire how he conducts himself in all other matters. Sometimes I wanna live to see a hundred, other times, I wanna lay down and die.

We released a trove of disclosure records that detail the finances of more than 1,600 Trump appointees, including former lobbyists, industry executives and at least a dozen officials who declined to identify former clients. Explore the database:

Laugh at Eric Schmitt and Co. for Hawkeyes/Hawks, sure. Their screw up is funny and they deserve the mockery. But also, this was the GOP and allied media geared up to defend a coup attempt with lies and jail a prosecutor because he tried to enforce the law against a criminal. How far we've fallen.

Not only did I meet Robert Kraft, I worked for him. His kid Jonathan asked me to “remove the black music” from my gameday playlist in ‘94 & I refused so they fired me. I was the cheerleader director at the time. I sued them for wrongful termination and won. So yes, I know that motherfucker.

Did you ever meet Bob Kraft?

I like the idea of not permanently ceasing to exist, but it would be nice to have less adversity in repeat journeys. Especially in regards to my kids' mental health struggles.

Having faced the prospect that our minds are random fluctuations in a dead universe, quantum cosmologist Sean Carroll suggests that we may be stuck in an eternally repeating reality

Every day people show me antique photos of cats forced into costumes or wired into anthropomorphic positions, expecting me to be delighted. I know they mean well but I've seen them all and I hate them. I love cats. Seeing them uncomfortable and humiliated for human entertainment does nothing for me.

28 years of cyclosporiasis testing Screwworms eradicated in the US in 1966. Measles eradicated in the US in 2000. All are back because of this science denying administration.

The last thought of an unhoused person as they succumb to a cold winter night: "at least I didn't get offered the benefit of housing. I'm independent..." 😢

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Melania Trump: "Success is not about how many benefits a person receives. But rather, about how much independence they achieve."

Right out in the open. Corruption is so normalized now that they're not even trying to keep things hidden. So depressing that 77 million endorsed this.

Ring the bell because for the first time ever: Jim Cramer is stunned silent. Just like the rest of us, he’s seeing the President commit insider trading right in front of our very eyes.

Amazon, which saved $4B in taxes under Trump's Big Ugly Bill, has cut 30,000 jobs since last October. Verizon, which saved $2B, plans to cut 15,000 jobs this year. Meta, which saved $3B, plans to lay off 20% or more of its workforce. Trickle-down economics is a cruel joke.

It’s hard to overstate how much of this moment is driven by people who got a taste of accountability and were very, very mad about it.

Can someone explain what the fuck The Chainsmokers are? Because this just looks like two assholes playing records and yelling in a microphone.

“Just we two” Postcard from my collection, mailed 1909. This is by C.E. Bullard, my favorite of the Victorian/Edwardian cat photographers. He seemed to genuinely love cats and didn't restrain them or cram them into tiny costumes.

I know the way on the left is unconventional, but why, specifically, is it discouraged? Also, I saw zero seat logs here in Scotland, but I do on occasion back in the states. Maybe this should be standard signage in the US. At least in bars, arenas, and stadiums.

All the people who've celebrated the "free market" my whole life have consistently given more and more control to people who say the believe in it, but love a rigged game.

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

I don't know who needs to hear this, but an economy controlled by a handful of oligarchs isn't a "free market."

Sad but true. Those with even a minimal level of decency left the agency a long time ago.

I love to show up every day for my job, which is standing around holding the front of my tactical vest and getting told to choke to death by thousands of passers-by while 11 of my coworkers handcuff a roofer on his way to work. Every night I drive 80 minutes home, thinking about nothing at all.

Any species lost is tragic, but when it happens in a very short time frame due to hunting, it seems slightly more tragic than when due to loss of habitat. The loss of habitat slightly more tragic than from climate change. Obvious and easily halted, but indifference prevails.

#ResistanceRoots Today in history, 1883: The quagga, a subspecies of the plains zebra, becomes extinct when the last known individual dies in the Amsterdam zoo. Large herds of quagga once roamed the plains of their native South Africa until hunted ruthlessly by European colonists. /1
