We don't fight fascism by agreeing with fascists that some of us don't deserve rights. The group saying "don't sacrifice us for illusory temporary gain" aren't the ones being divisive. If the Democratic Party and candidates don't want us to be divided, then they shouldn't divide us!

I feel like the lesson of the Biden years is if you don't do so much jail--and quick--the criminals just learn they'll never go to jail and just get way worse.

However the overall point stands. We can’t come in and just do adult and mature policy. We have to flamboyantly punish people, not only because they deserve it, but because the bread-and-circuses thing is a real thing and always has been.

I tried to watch Suits, but couldn't finish the first ep. Impersonating an attorney is an actual crime.

The Questionable Authority@questauthority.bsky.social

I swear to god, where the hell does the "lawyer and attorney are different" thing come from? All three major models are regurgitating the claim, but there aren't any sources that really back it up. Even the ones the AI's cite when pushed don't really stand for that proposition.

Account now restored but 90 min of censorship, & who knows how much algorithmic suppression, is proof positive that letting a few billionaires control what we see/say/know is - perhaps - not the best plan. California - these fuckers are trying to keep you from passing Prop 40 & tanking 41 & 42.

Many of you on here have argued with me when I tried to explain, numerous times, that Newsom is garbage and absolutely not the Next Great Hope. If you won't listen to me, maybe you'll listen to Mark Ruffalo, who is cool & handsome in ways I am not.

It’s a little known fact that all the words associated with paying to see the Bayeux Tapestry are derived from Anglo-Saxon while all the words for being invited to see it by a corporate sponsor derive from French.

Look. I don’t have the energy to comment on the eugenicist hit piece published about masking at the disabled-centered dyke bar in my community. But when you point and laugh at the marginalized community skewered in that piece? Know that we can see you, and some of us have a long memory.

You got what you wanted! You are living your normal lives, as demanded, free of legal or social responsibility toward disabled people who are still at high risk. Now you’re going to laugh at us trying to find ways to keep going? That’s not just discrimination, that’s dehumanization.

LOOK AT THIS FUCKING SHIT. The easiest way to tell that trans women are women is that the right is so desperate to control what they do with their bodies. WE HAVE EVERYTHING IN COMMON.

“When Obama said he supported civil unions in the run-up to the 2008 and 2012 elections, he was offering gay people a slower pace of progress. When Democrats today triangulate on transgender rights, they are offering us a slower pace of decline.”

Gillian Branstetter@gbbranstetter.bsky.social

When Democrats attempt to triangulate on trans rights, it's my sense that many liberals and people in politics don't understand why many trans people are so upset. I wrote about the differences between then and now, what trans people have lost, and what we still stand to lose

it’s wild that the heritage foundation wrote in text that the assault on trans woman particularly in sports is their first step in their efforts to completely abolish all Title IX protections and liberals still don’t believe it’s about more than trans women in sports

Yesterday Trump said we’re at WAR but families of soldiers killed there are being told they can’t get proper compensation because technically “we’re not at war, it’s a military operation.” PAY THEM!!!

I hope this is obvious, but: The reason conservatives attack Title IX is because it profoundly reshaped society. Women have accessed so many spaces that were boys’ clubs 50 years ago, due in large part to higher education—and all the opportunities available to people with degrees and expertise.

Rachel Cohen Booth@rcobooth.bsky.social

this new Heritage Foundation report is much broader than "protect women's sports". It argues Title IX imposed a male model of competition on women, encouraged us to become dominant and aggressive, and pulled us away from traditional femininity and motherhood

Now that he is dead the corpse of James Scott is going to be exhumed to justify privatization and block grants that reduce support for the vulnerable. But those are really less efficient and effective for large welfare programs. After block grants only 1 in 5 TANF dollars $ goes to the poor.
