That didn’t feel like goodbye, I don’t think I’ve ever heard the Cabs so tight and sounding so perfect. The sound and visuals were 100% on point. More thoughts tomorrow but that was a lot to take in.

Then in the evening went to the final ever (*) Cabaret Voltaire show (**) in Sheffield, with @theblackdog.bsky.social. Aldo really good, amazing sound and video fx, excellent versions of most of the classics. Just an amazing day! (*) I have doubts! (**) last cabs show with Chris Watson, yes.

If you thought all that recent #NoahsArk buzz was just another silly season story at best or a scam at worst, Carl here has put together not only a good overview of the history of such claims and methodological criticism, but also sheds light on the personnel involved. Which may make things worse.

Carl Feagans@cfeagans.bsky.social

I briefly describe here many of the claims about Noah's Ark over the years and some of the flaws with the current claims. ahotcupofjoe.net/2026/10/noah...

I got this 40 years ago in a tiny weird record shop in west london that is long gone. It’s a pretty good record.

Another one here that appears not to have noticed fascist mobs across the country burning people out of their homes, setting fire to hotels, fighting with the police and dragging people out of their cars to beat them. Is there a particular reason that bothers him less than the riots in France?

I just listened to the whole of Prince’s Sign of the Times album and holy mother of god, it has a lot of shit on it. Couple of good tracks and a lot of dross. My wife came in and begged me to turn it down. Jesus.

Copped this and reading it now. Well written, comprehensive and fascinating. Excellent.

My new book 'New Cross, New Cross: a cultural history of London SE14' (2026) is now out in the wild, 300+ pages, £15. Available from The Word bookshop (314 New Cross Road) and Crofton Books (315 Brockley Road). Pubs, music, radical politics, sport and much, much more. (More stockists to come)

One of the devils arrows was taken from the field where the current three are and was turned into a war memorial.

Anthropology.net@anthropology.net

A war memorial in Yorkshire turns out to be carved from a missing Neolithic megalith. Zircon dating just proved a 19th-century antiquary’s forgotten guess right, 150+ years later. #Archaeology #DevilsArrows #Neolithic www.anthropology.net/p/devils-arr...

More than 2 million Indigenous people likely lived in Australia in 1788, over seven times the figure used for a century, and numbers fell by over 90 percent by 1861. #Archaeology #IndigenousAustralia #PopulationGenetics www.anthropology.net/p/australia-...

anthropology.netAustralia Was Home to 2.2 Million Indigenous People in 1788DNA, radiocarbon dates and climate models put 1788 Aboriginal Australia at over seven times the old estimate, with excess deaths near 2 million by 1861.

This will be excellent, if you are near New Cross do go along

I'm doing a free history walk on Saturday (19th Sept) around Kender triangle area of New Cross as part of Hatchfest festival. Meet 11 am at old White Hart pub, soon to reopen as the Broken Wheel and have an exclusive look inside! You can also buy a copy of my new New Cross book hatchfest.org (1/2)

As usual, Mekka is accurate. To use the oft-repeated phrase, he has receipts.

Mekka Okereke@mekka.mekka-tech.com

The good news is, that this not true.🤷🏿‍♂️ We keep trying to rewrite history, and pretend that Trump happened, and then tech billionaires became radicalized, and then they supported him. We ignore that Thiel helped Trump get elected in the 1st place, and Bannon and Epstein helped start the alt-right.

I suspect Dr Williams has a take similar to that of @cstross.bsky.social, who has been talking about this aspect of the new tech-orthodoxy for some years

You know how I keep saying that "AI" people since the 90s & 2000s all have the same metaphysical commitments & that the best way to understand them is through the lenses of comparative religious studies in new religious movements, mythmaking, & occult studies? I am not now & nor have I been kidding

This is well worth your time. The panel in the interview which shows the distribution of female versus male representation of n prehistory is mind blowing. Excellent.

Ulli Lust's #archaeological #GraphicNovel about Ice Age gender myths and #Paleolithic society is finally being published in English! And @andrewcurry.com used the opportunity for a nice little @science.org interview: www.science.org/content/arti...

This is well worth reading on the statistical reasoning beyond the A.I. doom hype. My view is this messaging is an attempt to get open weight models regulated into competitive disadvantage just as they become a threat to frontier models’ revenue and floatation.

Amanda Shendruk@not-ship.com

I really didn't want to add to the AI hype. But there's something the reporting is missing. That scary number? The ">10% chance we'll all perish" number? It's nonsense. It's just a bullshit hunch with a percentage sign. www.not-ship.com/stop-trustin...

Getting close to “done” with the Lambo Jota in all its 70s space age glory. Nothing broke when I put the body on! Lots of errors but I like it 😆. Tamiya polishing paste arriving today, a new experiment! #italiagb #histscalemodels

Still sad about Shaun’s passing. I did the soundtrack / DI mix to Minds Locked Together, a short film he made while doing photography in club nights. We used to go clubbing and he’d come round my house with big art prints. One time he brought round dry ice “for the kids” but it had evaporated!! ❤️

We lost a good friend on this day 10yrs ago, still miss him and think about him often. I miss all the silly messages and videos we'd send to each other and of course his fantastic work. One of the best to do it.

Decent progress on the 1975 Lamborghini Jota by Hasegawa. This has been a fabulously entertaining model to build, really enjoyed it. #histscalemodels #italiaGB

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

Most of my modelling this year has been of robots. Here’s a big purple hovercraft robot with a maintenance bot and a guy in a mech suit. The purple is amazing IRL. Model is a Hasegawa / Maschinen Kriege set, re-versioned as civilian. #scalemodel Not quite #histscalemodels
