Today is the 37th anniversary of the theatrical release of UHF, and to celebrate, we’re announcing the release of John Du Prez’s wonderful score from the movie, available now for the very first time. Info and pre-orders at weirdal.com!
Please build something. If you are clumsy/busy/tired, please just attach a 20”x20”x1” or 4” Merv 13 filter to the back(not where the air gets blown!) using tape or cords.
It’s very effective and affordable!
A reminder that air filtration doesn't need to be fancy or expensive. #onstorm
The clean air delivery rate (CADR) of a box fan filter or full Corsi-Rosenthal box is kinda impressive.

Intermittent fluttering audible from the fireplace. Cat taking an interest. Moved some furniture to find what looked like feather fluff on the adjacent tile.

Forest fire smoke in Ontario has cut air temperature 4-5°C than forecast, greatly reducing electricity demand today. You can see the areas with clear sky in Norfolk County near Lake Erie are around 32°C while Toronto is 28°C. Normally Toronto is one or two degrees warmer.
Armwaving AI generated estimates of what to expect inside if the outdoor PM2.5 level is 300mcg/m3.
I don't consider our house "clean room" grade, but if we're hovering around 15-20 right now, I guess our investment in air filtration is paying off.
Here's our current PM2.5 data starting at 6am this morning. Even with fairly aggressive filtration of our indoor air, you can see the outside conditions (yellow) are starting to pull up the (blue) indoor curve.

I went inside for an hour and I swear it was darker outside when I came back out.

Thank you for everything you do.
94% of teachers have to dip into their own pockets to buy school supplies.
85% of teachers are working second jobs during the school year, often just to keep up with the cost of living.
Meanwhile, the average Wall Street employee got a bonus of $246,900 in 2025.
Something has gone terribly wrong.
Jay Bhattacharya recently defended his censorship of a CDC vaccine study in one of the most Orwellian articles I’ve ever read.
But it revealed a more fundamental problem.
He doesn’t realize he’s the medical establishment now.
It’s not his job to whine.
It’s his job to deliver results.
Virginia joins Maine and Utah in passing legislation permitting plug-in "balcony" solar power installations.
C’mon, Ontario. We have manufacturers in-province cranking out panels, and an electrical grid that could really use more resilience.

"All the things we're bombarded with from #HousingCrisis to #Inequality, #Affordability & #ClimateChange all go back to the #Billionaires & #Oligarchy, a status quo hell bent on remaining status quo. Fighting climate's tough when we suffer from a host of other things all coming from the same place."
If there’s one message every climate-concerned human needs to hear right now it’s that YOU ARE IN THE MAJORITY both globally and at home and WE WANT ACTION, not silence.

“We need to build power across borders because the systems, we’re up against are global.” – David Adler of @progintl.bsky.social
At the 2026 Progress Summit, David Adler explained why local struggles must connect to global progressive movements.
As war-driven fossil prices ripped through global markets, Britain's clean energy buildout provided the nation with an impressive buffer. Wind and solar cut gas generation to just 2.4% of their power mix in late March, helping prices fall to their lowest since October.

Wouldn't it be cool to invest trillions of dollars into a technology that would actually make society better?
Maybe we can call it “HI” — Human Intelligence.
Instead of “data centers”, we could fund “schools”.
Instead of *stealing* art, literature, and science, we help people *create* it.
Crazy!
Loving the ratio on this workshop announcement about “scientific integrity” with two of the most notorious science frauds in recent history, Jay Bhattacharya and Emily Oster, both of whom insisted that kids were safe from COVID and grandma might have to die for the sake of the economy
I'm co-organizing a free, 2-day Zoom workshop from the NAS & hope you'll consider attending!

Jordan Leichnitz: "It's clear that the Liberals under Carney are building a big tent, and apparently it's such a big tent you can drive a trucker convoy through it"
We are watching pictures that show us how we are citizens of a small, precious planet, even as mad men amongst us are threatening to wipe out entire civilizations
My mind is struggling to make sense
Millions of American voters wanted to be villains. They came to believe it’s the key to success, while goodness is weak, woke, loser stuff, done only to signal.
Offered the option of unvarnished villainy, they enthusiastically took it. Seeing others suffer more made them feel big.
And here we are.
During this incredible, unifying moment of inspiring international cooperation and spectacular technological achievement, I would really appreciate it if the US president would stop threatening to murder an entire country with bombs.
NASA isn't why the US doesn't have universal healthcare, or a social safety net. The US doesn't have those things because politicians with the power to provide them choose specifically not to (with varying levels of support from voters). Enthusiasm for human spaceflight doesn't drive that choice.
NEW: Changes to booze laws, road regulations and last-minute, last-ditch attempts to ban an annual protest hours before it was due to start.
Critics say a hailstorm of announcements from Queen's Park is to distract from a transparency crackdown. #Onpoliglobalnews.ca/news/1173523...

I've listened to Trump so you don't have to.
He's still rambling.
Currently he's insulting Somalians as low IQ and how they're all pirates and stole money from Minnesota whilst also being on boats and aren't pirating anymore because they keep knocking them out of the water.
More blatant racism
